    Woodwind Pro - 24" or 36"

I'm looking to get a Woodwind Pro and was wanting to get your thoughts and recommendations as to a 24" model or to just go ahead and get the 36" size. Anyone bought a 24" model and wished that they had upsized to the 36"? TIA for your feedback.

    Always the larger. Always. lol

Seriously, I think a 36" would add significantly more utility in the future, but will not take up that much more space, the footprint isn't that different, but the extra capacity is notable. One thing I've found over the years, is I am almost always wishing for 'just a little more room'. With the exception of my 320-gallon offset. Otherwise, I almost always end up at some point wishing for just a bit more.

      Highly recommend the larger cooker.

Absolutely go large. You’ll be surprised at how fast you can fill it up.

Make it 4 votes for the larger! I didn’t have a choice on size when I bought my woodwind, but that’s because I bought it with a burned up auger motor off a guy on Craigslist. It’s a 24, and I do like it, but I certainly wish I had just a touch more room sometimes.

I as well had to make that same decision I went with the larger cooker and did not look back!

I have the Taeger Timberline 850, not the 1300. It has fulfilled all my BBQ needs, wants, and desires.
The load capacity of the Timberliune 850 is more than I have ever needed. 9 Chickens, 8 rib racks, 6 pork butts
I suggest looking at each load capacity.

+1 on the larger. I just watched a Chuds BBQ and he had a spatchcock turkey and put a cast iron pan of cornbread on his smoker both at the same time. Nice to have room to smoke several things at once. I can't do that on either my Kettle or Bronco, I would have to use both, not a problem but it would be nice to just fire up 1 smoker for everything. YMMV

If the choice was 90” or 120”, we’d all want the 120”. It’s just human nature.

I have a LBGE, and I wish I’d gotten the XL. Never mind that I’ve never needed an XL.

                    36"
You can smoke smaller on the 36, but not larger on the 24.

In about two decades there has been one time that I needed more cook space than my 24" had to offer. I was smoking 9 pork butts for my daughter's sorority fundraiser. We're not frequent entertainers and I'm most often smoking just the main course while side dishes are being cooked on other appliances. I'm not arguing against the 36", just sharing my experience. Thinking about how you'll use the cooker and the number of people you frequently cook for might help you decide. If this is your only cooker, the 36" might suit you better for those just-in-case times. I also have a kettle and a gasser if I need more cooking space.

I have the 24 inch Woodwind pro and find it suits my needs just fine. It does have 2 levels of racks which increases the cooking capacity and I have used both upper and lower levels which seem to work fine. It has 811 sq inches of cooking space. That said I don't cook for 30 people at once, just friends and family. I have a kettle, gasser and fire pit if I need grilling so I use it primarily for smoking/ indirect "grilling". Keep in mind, you can get the "Sidekick Sear Box" for direct grilling which expands your cooking capacity.

Camp chef says it is fine for "cooking for a family/party of 6 or less. You can fit up to 40 - ¼ pound burgers or 24 - ½ pound burgers, one 14 to 16-inch pizza, 8 chickens, 6 rack of ribs, and 10 tri tips"

On the other hand, as stated above, there is nothing wrong with going bigger.
                        good luck.

I have the 36" WWPro and I'm glad I do. As someone said above you can cook less in the 36 but not more in the 24. It's really going to come down to what and how much you anticipate smoking. This picture (not mine) shows 2 briskets on the top racks and 3 butts on the main grate on a 36". If you'll never cook this much at one time you may be able to get away with a 24".

I know nothing of this piece of equipment. But go larger. I thought I was getting a deal with my KJJr (fire sale and I got it for $150). Now I wish I had larger.
