I picked up my new Woodwind Pro 24 two days ago but it's dark(er) at night with the time change. Looking forward to assembling it this weekend. Setting a new fence post is my first priority tomorrow but I hope to get on to assembly of the new cooker by noon tomorrow.

Has a drawer to allow one to add wood chunks to get more and more realistic smoke flavor from a pellet grill. Supposed to be pretty effective, I'd like to try one sometime.

To be able to add wood chunks is a game changer. Let us know how it works.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Get your priorities straight! You can set a fence post while the grill does its burn in!
Have fun with the new toy. And the post hole diggers!

I got it burned in yesterday. I haven't got much cooking time on it yet but today I did put some smoke on a chuckie for Mississippi pot roast before moving into the indoor oven. So far I'm really pleased. The controller is a significant upgrade from my previous Camp Chef pellet cooker and this has a functional upper shelf. The real differentiator is the smoke box and I didn't get to try that out yet. I'm excited to, hopefully, see a big change in smoke level on some ribs and brisket. Also looking forward to cold smoking cheese when the weather is reliably cooler.

You should enjoy the grill. It appears you also have the Sidekick attachment for searing, which should be great. I also have this pellet grill and find the smoke box a great addition giving as much smoke as I was getting on my Weber kettle with a lot less attention paid to maintaining the fire. I will be interested in your experience when you do use the smoke box. I have found that wood chunks are sometimes difficult to get burning. Looking forward to pics of your cooks. Enjoy.

SandPiper I smoked some ribs yesterday and was happy with the smoke level. The smoke box is going to take some figuring out. I couldn't really get the newly added chunks to light from the coals of the earlier chunks. I ended up opening the damper for about 10 minutes each time I added more chunks to get them going. The smoke box is a tradeoff since it's more tending than pellet alone. I was pleased with the temperature control even as the smoke box increased the variability.

jerrybell Putting wood chips in the smokebox first with chunks on top helps getting the wood lit. Also they start better during start up (when the lid is up bring in more oxygen). Agree, alway need to open the valve for every refill. Enjoy.
