I was wondering what in the world is going on with Camp Chef customer service wait times. I had to call them for a non-urgent issue. I left the phone on speaker while I was cleaning the kitchen. Either I'm slow or I had a lot to clean or both, but 45 minutes later I was still on hold and I hung up. Holy smoke.
Is this normal for Camp Chef? I'm just worried about what happens if I need to call them for troubleshooting or a part.
Sadly, yes. I called them last month and selected the call back option for a problem I was having on a live cook. The call back came 2 days later. Thanks for nothing CC!!!
I have a brief update as of yesterday. I received an email from Camp Chef CS confirming that my replacement smoker would be overnighted and that the unit was waiting to be picked up by Fedex. It sounds good, right?
I checked my Fedex app and found Camp Chef cancelled the overnight shipment and sent it out regular Fedex ground instead. In CC's own customer service assessment, overnight shipping had the best chance to get to me intact and all of the handling involved with Fedex ground probably caused the unit to be bowed out at the bottom of the chamber - bowed so much that the paint cracked and chipped off.
If you heard someone's head explode yesterday, it was probably mine. The smoker will arrive in New England some time next week.
Terrible. I’ve had some success on Twitter calling them out. I believe I tagged Meathead in one of my posts. Camp Chef has some neat products, particularly their new vertical smoker. But until they get their affairs in order the bbq community needs to boycott their products.
