Good job!! Me, I remember laying pavers about 20 years ago. Much more fun to watch them being laid than doing it yourself 😄

hoovarmin we feel incredibly blessed. A month or so ago it was high 80s, and very humid. I must have got some heatstroke that took me several weeks to recover from. So last week (and it's only 72 here right now) when we had temps in the 70s and barely into the 80s, not to mention relatively dry, and a week I could get away and devote to this, was great.

Nice job, but oh so much more to go. I bet you and your wife enjoy sitting on that patio, though, admiring your work to date. That makes it all worth the effort and the sore muscles.
I'm looking forward to seeing more progress photos, Bogy. Thanks for taking us with you.

Thanks. Yep, still a lot to do, but a great relief to have this much done. At least it will be usable this weekend when the family will be here. Unless my wife blabbed to our son when she saw him this afternoon none of the kids have seen any pictures or knew exactly what we were doing this past week. Waiting to see what their reaction is.

Last week I was on "vacation" so I almost got the patios done. This week I need to put the paver lock sand on, but otherwise it's done. Next summer we are going to remove the current fire pit and put in another 10x10 approximately where that firepit is now. Added edger pavers to the part that was already done, and the pavers my wife hated by the back door are now between the garage and the cook shack. Somehow whoever put them by the back door got them to meet up. I could not make it work like they did, and I didn't work hard to keep the gap between the pavers to a minimum. Then I filled in the gaps with pea gravel. Strangely enough, my wife hated the way they looked by the back door, but she likes the way they look with the pea gravel. The first patio by the back door is already getting a lot of use with the traffic to the door. The back patio with the cookers is nice because it's more hidden. The walkway is great because we now have an even surface that people can use instead of wearing a path in the grass. Even though it's not perfect, it's a great improvement for two people who are 70 and only getting older.
This week things in the garage are going to get moved around, and the cook shack will get set up. I've added water spigots on the back of the garage and the shack using pex line. When it gets cold I turn the water off and blow them out. My wife is already looking for a sink for me to put on the back of the garage, and I have a little pizza oven that we are going to find a home for.

Huge undertaking, lots of hand work, looks nice. We would really like to know how old you are taking on such a project.

randy.56 My wife and I are both 70. I would not have gotten it done as quickly as I did without her help. She worked to keep the elderly in their homes for the last 18 years, so she sees this partly as enabling us to remain in this home as long as posible. The walkway will enable me to go to the back area with the cookers even when I need to use a walker or wheelchair.
The other nice thing is now the dogs don't run through the mud on their way in the house. If it ever rains again.
