Wife is looking for a table-type propane-fueled fire pit for keeping warm on the patio. Anyone have or know of one they love? Thinking 36-48" length, with a cabinet that holds a standard 20# tank. Any ideas?

My dad has one on his patio and it does a nice mob of putting off some heat. For colder nights, he runs a patio heater as well and that helps. I don’t know where he got the patio fire table though. I’m guessing he got it locally, either Home Depot, Lowes, Costco or Sams. I’ll ask to see where he got it. For you in S FL - it may just be perfect.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I got this last fall, on sale for $199:
We like it a lot, but during the summer I moved it off as an end table rather than a coffee table in our outdoor seating area, as the height is not great for propping your legs up on. You will find that any that have the tank inside are about that same height.

We seem here to use it in the Fall only. Doesn't get dark here until after 9 in the summer and we usually have a very cold Spring. That is why we didn't go overboard on a pit.

Thanks captainlee makes sense. Coldest it gets here is mid-30s, but that’s at at 3AM once or twice in January. Typically 50s or so at night in winter. From now til about Christmas it’s fantastic, as is Feb-March. In summer, just stay inside…

I will add another comment about these fancy fancy coffee table style firepits....
Heat goes UP. So if the heat is at the level of say 8" above the top of a propane tank, which seems about right for most of these style patio heaters, the think you will notice is that your LEGS and FEET get cold. And the table tends to be higher than the seat you are sitting in, making propping your feet up to warm them less comfortable than it should be.
Don't get me wrong - the decorative glass chunks in the fire pit table build up and throw out radiant heat, as does the foot or so tall flames, but its just higher up than I wish it was.
I have an old Camp Chef propane portable camping style fire pit that uses an 8-10 foot hose to the propane tank that we used to use in the pavilion before we got outdoor throw rugs out there, and I liked that it was 6 inches off the ground, and the lava rocks it uses kick off a lot of heat once its been running a while. I still have it, but am hesitant to put it down on top of the rugs...
While not *better half* approved, the portable fire pits with a hose to the tank, or even the "Mr. Heater" type heaters - effectively a propane space heater - actually do a much better job of warming you up. Am I ripping out the fire pit table that SWMBO likes? No.... just pointing out that your wife, as mine did, will find that it is less effective than expected. Great for warming hands and upper body, but less so for lower body.
That said - if you only get 10-12 chilly nights a year - go for the table type. They look much nicer!

Alright this is the one we have. For us and our patio layout, this provides more heat than a solo stove, and we had one of those tall heaters. It’s better than that also.
I hope someday we replace it with an actual fire pit, but my wife likes this, so I like it too. We are only in first season, so I can’t comment on longevity.
