DavidNorcross in case you do feel the need to take it inside in inclement weather, I highly recommend an RV style TV mount, as they have a base plate that mounts to the wall, then the bracket that mounts to the TV just slides down into it. You can get the tilt style flat to the wall style mounts, as well as the reticulated arm style mounts.

The one I am using for a 32" TV is this, and it came with 2 bases (think of how an RV might use an inside and outside mount, and you move the same TV outside under the awning for tailgating):

I have brought it in once or twice in winter or during really bad storms, and just unplug the power cord from the back of the TV and slide it up and out of the slot, and prop it on its end in a corner of my home office.

This is good advice. I bought a "flex" TV that I can use in multiple areas and 3 cheap mounts like the one you described. Now I can keep that TV in the gym, or borrow it for a second set during football season, or bring it outside to watch from the hot tub.

I have 2 65" outside under a roof with open sides. I don't run them if it is below 20 (Northeast Ohio), and all has been well for a year and a half. For a Black Friday price of $300, I could not pass giving it a try.

I've had a cheap TV under the roof of my open outdoor kitchen for years. There's no reason to spend extra money on an outdoor TV in your situation. However, one consideration should be glare. If you can find a TV with less glare that's a valuable feature for an outside TV and to a lesser extent overall brightness should also be a consideration.

I am at work, so no photo.. I have a screened lanai, two walls are the house stucco and two walls are screen. Real roof. I put a tv out there about 6-7 years ago. I wanted a new tv because that one was an early generation "smart" tv, it only had Hulu and Netflix installed, and IIRC those turned off after a certain period of time. I found what I wanted on Black Friday, was going to recycle the old one, when someone mentioned why not put outside. I was going to ditch it anyway.

I hadn't lived here long (7.5 years now, so could have been more like 7 years ago), and I wanted the ugly ceiling fans replaced. I had an electrician come out to do that, and install a couple new light fixtures, and asked about the tv. There was only one outlet out there at the time, I wanted the tv hung over it on the most protected wall, so he ran some conduit from the outlet up to the tv hanging bracket. Now I have the tv hanging, with an outlet behind it, and the original outlet still usable down below. I put a Google Chromecast on it, now I just open what I want to watch on phone or computer, and cast to the tv. Works great, and that old tv is still at it. It is starting to be wonky about turning on, and I've looked at the outdoor tvs, but I'm not about to pay that. I live in a sauna most of the time, so I plan to either grab a really cheap one when I see the right size, or a used one if it has the HDMI port for the Chromecast. It's on a heavy, solid hanger on a thick stucco wall, and has ridden through quite a few hurricanes without problems.

I had one in my backyard. It had a cover. Get a cover for it. Then do not worry, the cover will protect it from whatever.

If you REALLY want to not worry about it, I saw a TV at the Miami Boat Show that was being pitched to yachts. And I mean YACHT yachts, not just your regular old 35 footer with a cabin. The thing was in a 55 gallon fish tank 1/2 filled with water. Half the set was submerged.

The booth guy did not really like me though. I mean yea cool TV but when he asked me what I thought I said "that is neat and all, but if my boat is sinking I think the TV is the LEAST of my worries". People looking at it said "good point" and waled away. Oops? Sorry? But yea if I have a yacht with a big flat screen in the air conditioned cabin outfitted with the finest leather furniture available, if the TV is 50% underwater I need to be thinking about MAYBE looking for that EPIRB and life boat.

how many drop down scuba regulators were in that TV? “In the event of a sinking, insert the drop down mouthpiece in your mouth. “

I actually stopped at Costco and looked at TVs the other day. I’d like to watch the Bears game in my backyard Sunday. I bought a sound bar instead. I’m going to put one of my basement TVs on a cart that I ordered last night and try that. I think my wife would kill me if a came home with another TV.
