    This is at my new house, I had them install hot and cold water along with natural gas and a sewer connection along with 110 power when the house was built. I installed the island myself

      I am doing this now-ish. I am going with outdoor usable porcelain tile (<$1/ sq. Foot) over ¼" duroc on top of ¾" PT plywood. Pics in the not too distant future. Letting the framing timbers dry out a bit first.

          I used porcelain tiles and definitely recommend them. As a previous post wrote: non-porous and few grout lines is good. I also like the look, as they're in between fancy granite and functional concrete. They only issue is that cutting them with an angle grinder (diamond disc) isn't a good idea, as I learned. If I had to do it again I'd borrow/rent a good tile saw.
