    Glove Recommendation Needed

I need to replace my barbecue gloves. I don't care about handling hot grates or charcoal, Just handling hot and greasy food and holding knives for cutting up chicken and ribs. Any feedback will be appreciated

    #2
I followed advice from the woderful pit people and bought cotton gloves and nitrile disposable gloves for that purpose and it works great.

The cotton gloves protect you from the heat and the nitrile gets tossed when you're done.

Same here, a simple glove liner covered by disposable nitrile works great for me. When pulling pork I have the feel and dexterity to remove the gristle without burning my hands. I can also briefly handle most hot cooking racks and move around large hunks of meat in the cooker.

That's an awesome suggestion, thanks for sharing!

The Man Law BBQ Products High Heat Gloves are the most unique-looking gloves we tested. They come in three sizes, are said to be heat-resistant up to 572 degrees F, and are 13" in length. The gloves are lined with 100% rayon/cotton for a comfortable feel, and the exterior is constructed of food rated silicone.

These are my favorite. They won’t absorb hot liquid and then hold it against your skin like the fabric gloves do.

No longer available using the Amazon link from the link you provided, Polarbear777 . Did you perhaps purchase them from another site?

I got them about the time AR posted that review. Hopefully they are still around somewhere. They are excellent.

Ok, the reason I asked was the request for gloves that can be used for food handling, not super high heat protection.

I have those. Used for non food handling. With the long sleeve, no more singed arm hair.

I use these to handle the food. They were under $20 without the freebies. Easy to clean just soap and wash like you do your hands under running hot water. They really do hold a nice butt or brisket from smoker to cutting board. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYALUB3...dDbGljaz10cnVl

I use these pairs almost exclusively. The black ones are for handling food, the blue ones are for handling charcoal and grates and hot things.

The black ones, you can pick up steaks, briskets, pork roasts, turkeys, chickens, etc. They are great for pulling pork: just go all squishy-squishy, in about a minute you have a nice tray. And also great for cleaning a turkey carcass. Cleanup is easy: put them on and wash them like you are washing your hands, but use dish soap instead of hand soap.

The blue ones, those are amazing. You can pick up hot coals with those. You can’t squeeze them, but you can hold them for a couple seconds. When they need to be cleaned, throw them in the washing machine.

I’ve bought all the other ones, including the leather ones. I don’t know where any of those are. I use these two pairs both indoors and out.

Real men don’t use gloves! They just try to be fast & say ouch! when somethin is hot & use long tongs. 🕶

I bought these as they are waterproof, heat resistant, and amazingly nice flexible finger dexterity, which is really important when handling wet/greasy foods. The XL goes on/off my fat pudgy hands easy. If you don't want the high heat they come in 700 degree gloves. https://www.amazon.com/RAPICCA-Resis...XY/ref=sr_1_1?

Good to know they work well. I'm trying to find them on Amazon in a smaller size. Smallest so far is 8.5. Would like smaller so I'll keep looking. Thanks for the tip.

Usually I use protective garden gloves like this pair with size XL or L Disposable Nitrile gloves over them. Works great. Nice gripability, er, grippiness, oh heck, it grips the hot food pretty well.

Thanks, tstalafuse , I just ordered those gloves in a Size 8, which is the smallest that I can find. I like the arm protection, especially since I wear gold/silver bracelets all the time and when I reach over a hotgrill those bracelets can warm up PDQ. I always make sure to tuck them into my gloves whenever handling raw meat (nitrile gloves only) or cooked meat from the grill.

I've never had hot liquid saturate the garden glove+nitrile glove combo that I currently use, but there's always a first time. The design you recommended looks like a good solution for that potential problem.

        I really appreciate the tip.

I have a pair of those. Too slippery for me and hard to get a grip. Plus they slide right off my hands. They're good for some things, though, so I keep them handy.

I like to wear these cotton gloves under my black nitrile gloves.

The nitrile gloves I use are tough as nails. And they fit right over the cotton gloves. I can pull pork or take meat right off the smoker without burning myself. It makes pulling pork or beef a breeze. They are also great for transferring meats from foil to the cutting board when doing brisket or shoulders. This set up also allows for much better dexterity, as opposed to the large, bulky silicone gloves.
