I got the fancier one with the attachment to vacuum seal hard sided containers. Then I never bought the containers, rendering that feature mostly useless (not completely useless because I can buy the containers at any time).
Anyhow that one will seal stuff in bags just as well as any other foodsaver model. There are more expensive vacuum sealers whivh are probably a lot better....but the foodsaver models are good enough. Haven’t done SV or dry age bags, but I buy the mega packs of stuff at the wholesale club then vacuum seal it in smaller quantities for the freezer. Then I can defrost just enough for dinner each night. Nothing gets mummified with freezer burn.
When I do get a SV device, I’m sure my foodsaver will work just fine.
I owned a Foodsaver but it quit working after only a few years so I replaced it with a VacMaster Pro 350 and I have not regretted it at all. That thing is built like a tank and seals far better than the Foodsaver ever did. I got mine at the Webstaurant store. https://www.webstaurantstore.com/ary...120VMA350.html
Same here. I got a chamber and never looked back. It’s a lot p front but if you buy in bulk and you save lots of leftovers it’s eventually worth it. Bags are much less expensive also.
I wanted a chamber sealer when I bought the 350 but just could not swing the difference in price at the time. I love how I can put one of those 50 foot roll of bags in this one and cut them to the length I want to make my bags. The foodsaver would hold only small roles.
I've never had a Foodsaver (but have had other brands). Go to the Umai site and see which ones they sell and/or recommend. Then get it wherever you like.

I picked mine up from Cabela’s this winter but I didn’t see the specific model on the website. But it has worked well. But like another said, the tube ext Nixon for jars would be nice. I don’t recall if mine has that option.

I've had this one for a couple years. It works ok but it can be Quirky if it feels like it. I paid $100 at our local Hardware Store and usually get bags similar to MBMorgan . Sometimes I wish I had gotten a Vacmaster model. We don't have room for a chamber type so I'd probably by a Plain Model Vacmaster if my Foodsaver gives out someday.

We have the FoodSaver Premium 2-In-1 Automatic Bag-Making Vacuum Sealing System, Silver FSFSSL5860-DTC and it works well. Do have issues trying to vacuum seal Umai bags because they are so thin. But so far everything else works well.
The LEM MaxVac 1000 Vacuum Sealer comes standard with a roll material holder and cutter, with 8 in x 25 ft bag material, so your vacuum sealing is easier than ever before with our powerful, easy to use, commercial grade vacuum sealer.
The VacMaster VP112s chamber sealer costs about the same at webstaurant.com. I've had its predecessor for about 8 years with no pain. Course, it does have a larger footprint, and the Lem is a very fine product!

After my high $ foodsaver quit working for no apparent reason other than it was out of warranty, I just went with the cheapest vacuum sealer with an aux hose. Its working fine so far. And if it dies, no tears, just ditch it and get another.
I decided to go with the FoodSaver fm 2100 I posted. Got it for 69.99 on the FoodSaver website. This will get me on the road to dry aging and experimenting with SV. Thanks to all for the advice.
