I'm looking to buy one of these, 8 quart for sure for the size. What model is the best?
It looks like the Duo 80 does everything, but I lose the Egg program.

If I am right, an Instapot is an electronic Pressure Cooker. for myself, i prefer the stove top pressure cookers. I have several sizes. the Giant one that doubles as a pressure canner. the 8 quart for small soup cooks and the 6 quart for slightly smaller cooks. My next purchase will be a three to 4 quart.
but, pressure cooking is a wonderful thing. from the best stocks you have ever tried to 4 minute dried beans, to caramelized root veg. you will love it!
My rice cooker does rice in about 20 minutes. the best 'FAST' cook in a pressure cooker, for ME, is dried beans. LOVE them!!! they are smoother if you still soak them overnight, but, soaked or not, 4 minutes at pressure and they are done.
You can do the most delicious eggs in any instant pot! Only lately have they added a egg button, but it is not needed. As Fire Art said, it's manual for the most part. My 6 qt instant pot has no egg function anyway. You will have to find the perfect timing for the eggs that you like. Mine is 5-5-5. 5 minutes high pressure, 5 minutes natural pressure release, and 5 minutes in an ice bath. Fall out the shell perfect.
A pressure cooker is awesome! I have a stove top Fagor Duo, because I like the ability to brown meat (something the electronic ones aren't so good at). The instapot and the Breville fast/slow cooker give you a ton of options.
The fast/slow is our current electric one. It is a very fine piece of equipment! And it does a nice job browning. If you're thinking about pressure cookers, you should definitely visit hippressurecooking.com. https://www.hippressurecooking.com/

I have the 8 quart duo. So far I’ve not used any functions other than "pressure cook" and "saute." I have done large-batch hard boiled eggs similar to how Lonnie mac describes. I mainly do stocks, soups, and root vegetables in mine, though I’m experimenting with more recipes.
The instant pot sites and FB groups are a bit cult-ish, be warned. And it’s painful to see hundreds of post about "fall off the bone" ribs done in the IP. But the Serious Eats recipes work well (as you’d expect), and there are some other good resources out there.
I bought my wife the 6 qt Ultra for Christmas, after she put one at the top of her list. I bought the Ultra because I got a good deal on it on Amazon, and I didn't want to have to upgrade later. She loves it. Eggs come out awesome, and I've never seen them peel so easy. She uses it 3 or 4 times a week trying new recipes and adapting some of her old ones. Highly recommended!

I'm making Blue Corn Posole in my Instant Pot at this very moment. Some fried corn tortilla strips, beer and guacamole will round out the meal. It will be ready in 35 minutes--15 minutes to come up to pressure, 12 minutes to cook, and 5-7 minutes to sit before releasing the lid. Can't beat that. Plus the Posole will be delicious because I've made it before in the IP.
It's a great time-saver, and is excellent at concentrating flavors. I have the 6 Quart Instant Pot. Most recipes are written for the 6 qt, but if I were buying now, I'd probably get the 8 quart just because I like cooking big batches of stuff and freezing some for later when I'm too lazy to cook.
But honestly, when cooking for 2-4 people, a 6 quart Instant Pot will do just fine.
I have an Insta Pot 8qt. It's great. Prep time is prep time but cook times are reduced greatly after the IP comes up to pressure. I use it for sides and things like oatmeal, beans from scratch and even some sweets.
I usually go on a rant after someone posts some antiquated story about someone who did not follow directions and blew the lid off their pressure cooker 30 years ago. Whatever. The new electrics are super. They won't open unless the pressure is safe.
The pressure cooker forums postings are sometimes over the top, especially when they talk about stuff we all make with grills, knowing that grilling is they way to do it. I. e. steaks, ribs. Whatever.
Some of the pressure cooker cookbooks are goofy. Use your cooking expertise to judge those. I really only use the cook times that came with my IP. The Minimum amount of liquid, for a given cook is important too.
I have a 7 qt Fagor "manual" PQ and an 8qt Instant Pot duo. The Fagor doesn't get used any more. It's not going to make your food taste any better than a manual, and technically uses a lower pressure, but the convenience can't be beat! I don't have to fiddle with the stove to get it to maintain pressure without getting too cool or hot, I don't have to stand over it until it reaches pressure so I can start timing the cook, and I don't have to wait around until it's finished so that I can turn off the burner. It's just start it up and get back to it when you're ready. I'm using it all the time.
