Henric used a cake form as a Vortex a while back. I'm just going to take one of my several Angel food cake pans and use that as it closer resembles to cone shape.
I have to check and see if I need to cut it down. There is about 5" between the charcoal and grill grates on a weber kettle. Not sure how tall a AF Cake pan is exactly.
Edit: It fits pretty Well. I got to go get some WINGS so I can spice up my rib cook a bit.

It's in Henrik's post called Salmon and the Snake, or something similar. I think the springform pan would help a little when you build a snake around it, but it's only an inch or so high so it's not providing that much deflection of heat. Sitting on the coal great of the 22.5", the middle size Vortex goes just about all the way up to the grilling grate
Agreed TB, I used 2 foil 1/4 pans wired together to get the 5" needed to get to the top grate. I angle food cake pan is about that same height. I'm going to give it a run tonight.
