Great idea, just over priced. Having just finished some exterior siding repairs, I had some scrap cedar boards. Beveled one end with the power saw and cut the other to desired length. It works the same as the commercial version and costs considerably less . When the scraper wears down, I'll just cut a new edge. I would think that any kind of hardwood would work, I'd stay away from pines and other softer woods though.

I bought one at costco last year. My experiene? It kinda sucked. doesnt clean the grates nearly as well as a wire brush.

I have moved since and have been lugging it around not wanting to throw it away. Now that I saw the girllgrate Idea I will give it a shot and see if I could actually use it.

I received one from my daughter and graciously thanked her knowing it was a gimmick. I decided to try it, and now I would much rather use it than a wire brush. I always worry about loose bristles causing problems with a wire brush. Not so with this scraper. It does a good job cleaning my rec tec mini grill. Haven't used it on GrillGrates, but I'm sure I'd need another one to do that since the worn in groves from the mini grates don't match the groves of GrillGrates. I love mine!
