I wonder do they make a searing insert for the kettle-sized ones?
They show one in the instagram pic, but...
The website is a bit inconclusive on this; they have the insert, but list it for their 40"
Or, is the opening the appropriate size to accommodate the Weber Gourmet inserts?
That would be an ideal solution, as well...
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

If you look at the individual items (22" or 26" inserts) it states they do come with it, although the pics don't show it.
Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.
I know the further away from the center you get the cooler it gets based on the video... However were you able to or is it possible to bank the fire on one side to give you a "safe" zone or a cooler zone?
Both functional and a centerpiece when entertaining. Picture it in a 26" kettle, lid off and set over there out of the way. With a couple guys, or your kids, standing around it enjoying beverages and laughter and cooking your own steaks, eggs, hashbrowns, veggies, being a part of it. As far as what it does, it's no different than any hot surface, it's just bigger and makes an all-around centerpiece when entertaining, with a nice sear zone in the center for live-fire viewing and getting that smoke smell in everyone's hair and clothes, not just yours!.
Huskee - years ago we used to go to or throw a bunch of parties. Now it's one or two a year at our house. So this is not worth it to us, plus I'd have to find somewhere to store it.
tbob4 I expected the heat to be concentrated in the center and drop off at the perimeter. However, I didn't expect the heat pattern to be as uneven as it was. But once I was able to get past this preconception, and that was rather difficult as I often view uneven heat as a major flaw, I began to understand this unique product. A big problem was inadequate instruction. Now ArteFlame is trying to address this, at least with videos. I advised them to expand their product literature as well. All I got was a single two sided page. Not much more was available at their website at the time of delivery. I suggested they begin with a statement along the lines of "Arte Flame is unlike any grill you've probably used so keep an open mind and have fun". You have to move foods around to find the temps you want. Once I began viewing that as an acceptable characteristic, a veil was lifted from my eyes and I could appreciate the ArteFlame experience.
I suspect the heat pattern of their kettle insert will be more predictable and of course it is dramatically less expensive, but the beauty and social aspect of the $2,000 freestanding models is wonderful. If you got the $$.

Max Good - great info. I don't have $$ for the freestanding model but it really looks fun. I appreciate the feedback and your reviews are fantastic. Thanks again.

I see that it's referred to as a "grill" (even by the manufacturer) but isn't that thing technically a griddle ... with what looks like a hole in the middle to accommodate a small (10" ish) grill grate?

OK, I checked out the website and the videos and I think I get it now, it's a party thing. Gather round the fire, pop the top on a few beers and everybody cook your own dinner! Sounds like fun! At least I won't get blamed for somebody's under/overcooked steak...
Fortunately for me, they don't make one that would fit the Summit Charcoal and I don't have enough patio for the stand-alone model. May have to put another patio on the home improvement list for next year...
