    New Kettle accessory......and it's gorgeous.

I just ran across these on Instgram. I'd love to get one. I'm not sure what they are looking for, cash wise, but they look great in black kettle.

I don't think they are available yet.

Correct, I have the freestanding unit not a kettle insert.

Appears to be a 26" in the pic. Pretty sweet.

But what is that custom grate in the middle?

I've successfully refrained from over $500 of "needed" purchases. Heck, I've even refrained from my beloved vanilla frappuccino. Of course I almost caved at wolly world a few nights ago.

$89.95 for the 22" insert, $99.95 for the 26". I like the 26 especially. I'd love to have the big freestanding one though...

tbob4 Yes! If only we could add that to our acquisitions for the year, eh?

Just tested the Arte Flame full size model. One of the most unusual cookers I've seen. This may actually be easier to use, but the free standing model is remarkably beautiful and provides a unique social experience.

I tell ya, this site is a breeding ground for MCS. If it's out there, someone here will find it or better/worse (depends on how you look at it) invent the thing, needed or not.

FireMan ... in my original composition of what I observed within the Pit about MCS I said, the Pit is the incubator of this infliction. Your observation confirms my assumption.🤔

a 24x24 inch piece of 1/4" hot roll steel is $66 plus shipping from my usual steel supplier, plus I'd have to cut it. $90 isn't a bad price at all!

Then your current steel supplier is seriously overcharging you. For a 2' square piece of 1/4" hot rolled plate I'd be at no more than 40 bucks and I'd deliver it to your door for free, we deliver to your area 3 days a week. P/M me if you want to talk.

ribeyeguy Thanks! I'm a hobby machinist, and don't order all that often, but I usually get my stuff from onlinemetals.com Where are you at?

The metal was also case hardened after laser cutting, which adds expense.

David Parrish, May I ask where you got that information as I don't see it posted anywhere on their site. I don't really see the point of case hardening if in use I would think the heat would draw the hardness out of it.

I can see where it would be nice for grilling a steak or a couple of hamburgers. Is it good for anything else?

If you have a couple minutes, check out ArteFlame's video review by Greg Rempe, linked to above. It does anything you could grill or cook on a flat top griddle.
