Could I get some suggestions on a good vacuum food sealer? I don't really need a lot of bells and whistles, just something that works. I know some of them are pretty big and I don't have a lot of storage space so the more compact the better.

The Foodsavers are good as are VacMasters. Coscto has the Foodsavers on sale often. I suggest you don't go for a cheaper model but get something decent. I had a cheaper Foodsaver and it didn't last, but my nicer one has lasted many years only requiring an occasional gasket replacement. But now I never use it since getting the chamber vac.

+1 for FoodSaver. I used one for many years ... lost it in an overseas move ... and just took delivery of its replacement this morning.

Mine's long discontinued as well, but similar to the Gamesaver Bronze (but mine was not a gamesaver). Costco has the 4980.

I have the same question so I just checked Amazon for a comparison of 11" rolls. The FoodSaver rolls run about 56 cents per foot versus the Commercial Bargains rolls which run just over 20 cents per foot. This was just a cursory price check so there might be other even more economical options out there.Originally posted by Tim Clark View PostThanks, everyone. Looks like the top couple of FoodSavers are the way to go. I'm assuming that there are good after market bags that work. Looks like you can shell out a lot of extra money if you go with the FoodSaver bags.

I recently got a foodsaver, the one that is about $150 at Costco. Works great but when I got my Umai Dry aging bags it couldn't seal it. D'oh! I needed to get the cheaper $80 model at Target that you manually close on the bag. Wanna buy my $150 one?

Have had the Gamesaver Silver a couple of years. Have loved this set-up with everything I used it for. It is the same as the Big Game system now. Works with 12 volt using the cig lighter. This comes with the normal assortment of stuff and some pretty good coupons for bags and containers. I would suggest signing up for the email notifications first to get discounts.

We have a Foodsaver V3040 Model and I paid $100 for it. Works Great but I have had to wet the gasket a few times. When I called Foodsaver they were always good with advice to make it work. Also will mention that I sometimes wash and reuse the bags if they are still large enough. I wouldn't but too fancy of one.
