Fireboard New Product Testing: A Pitmaster Club Exclusive!

I think it is high time we speculate on what Fireboard and Weber are trying to achieve and what Fireboard is probably sending us......
I think it will be about 'Smart Cooking'. Looks to me like Weber has been investing in that space with their Weber Connect App and the remote control capability on the new Weber Summit. They have put a thermometer in the new Weber Slate griddle. Weber has wired probes to close the loop with the app. Their gaps are:
- their instant read thermometer doesn't provide feedback to the app
- they don't have a wireless probe that tracks both ambient and internal temps
So my guess is that at minimum we are getting 1) a Fireboard Pulse ard a Spark and Weber/Fireboard have figured out how to integrate the data into the Weber Connect app. Weber connect would be the app you would use to interface with the Fireboard thermometers.
My hope is that we are also getting 2) a Fireboard 2 Drive as well as a Fireboard Fan. I'm not sure I see the logic of this from the Weber side though. This might imply to the market that the kettle needs help for a low and slow cook....not sure. But what a package! Turn your kettle into 'one of the best' smokers on the market (or this is what the marketers would claim) and have a smart cook controlled from your home or office. Weber could really promote this by incorporating a fan port into new kettles. I can see this as a feature on all their charcoal cookers.
From an instructor with too much time on his hands in the summer. I'm putting 5$ on 1.
P.S. I'm sure Weber has more products than I am aware of so remember, I'm just having some fun!

Sorry, I've been dealing with jury duty and am still playing catch-up. We'll check with Fireboard on the status and will likely need to change the date of when they need feedback.Originally posted by Davek8282 View PostI sent an email to Clint Cantwell and have not heard anything back as yet.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
I hope they change the date, otherwise I might not be able to complete what they need; both this weekend and next weekend are out for any testing. If they don’t, I’ll still do my best.

hopefully this is the case. they can't really expect us to give a thorough review in this short amount of time.

I'm sure they'll extend the review time. The folks at Fireboard are good people, from all I know. They aren't going to be unrealistic about it. In fact, if there's been a delay, it's more than likely due to something they're trying to do to make sure it's all JUST RIGHT before they ship it out to us.
I'm chomping at the bit, yes, but I'm still grateful for the opportunity to try something new - and FREE! lol

Check your emails, peoples. Especially junk mail.
Bad news - for those not selected, we will be unable to discuss the product or results until/until it is released to the public. Not really a surprise, I know, but still suckage for those who weren't selected. Sorry.
