My daughter gave it to me for Christmas. If you can see in the photos, the teeth on that spiral are sharp; just take what you’re grating and rub it back and forth, it pretty much turns it into mush. If you’re doing hard cheese like Parmesan, it turns it to dust. It also comes with a little paint brush thing, to get every last bit. And it comes with a display stand. I would think you wouldn’t want to stack such a thing, because you wouldn’t want to wear down those teeth.

Right now I use a microplane for Parmesan, and a garlic press for when I want to use finer than chopped garlic… but ginger has always been a pain in the ass for me. The fibers stick in the microplane, I can’t chop it fine enough, I don’t ever seem to be able to get it fine enough. I’ve always just skipped anything that called for using grated ginger root. But now, I can start using it. And garlic presses get gummed up with the outermost skin, and can be hard to clean.

Idk. It looks cool, and pretty useful, actually.

I have a similar one and have used it for years but only for ginger - it works great. The strings in ginger gum up graters as you mentioned. Also use a minifood processor like appliance for larger amounts of ginger or when I'm lazy.

It’s from a company called “I See Spain”, but you can get much less fancy ones at Amazon for about half what they are charging.

Looks like a great ginger grinder. Would work very very well for wasabi too!

I've got a shark skin wasabi grater that works similarly. Really a neat way to do it!

I have one from Spain and it works well especially if you want fine particles.

I think mine is the same Spanish one. I got it at Cristkindlemart in Bethlehem PA, from a vendor named “I See Spain”.

I saw a demo of one this past fall at the Kennett Square mushroom festival.
I think it was the same vendor. It's seems to be a pretty cool little gadget.
If I recall, it was priced at like $40. A bit much for me for something I would rarely use..

This one was $30. I didn’t buy it, my daughter bought it for me when I wasn’t looking! That was really nice of her. You can get them on Amazon for around $12 or so. They don’t have the fancy pattern, but who cares.

it’s the bees knees for ginger! Grind up some ginger, chop up some garlic, slice up whole Pompano on skin, marinade with soy, toss it on the grill! 😛

Gourmands describe the Atlantic pompano as "the world's most edible fish." From Virginia to Texas, but primarily off Florida's west coast. Learn something new every day.

This year people have been catching some pompano off our beaches here in Maryland. Ocean water was warmer than in the past so it is understandable. I still remember catching them in NC when I was a kid. Great eating.

I ran across one too in my travels. It is a cool thing.

I saw this being demoed in Munich. I guess it may have been a knock off but this is identical. American made and pretty clever if you ask me Amazon has a bunch of copycats for around $15 but the original is selling for $30. https://www.grateplate.com/

            Also:

As promised in an earlier post, here are my thoughts on the ceramic Grate Plate grater. I received the well-packaged Grate Plate 5 days after ordering. Good service with cross-country shipping. The box included the plate, a garlic peeling sleeve, and a brush for gathering the product. All parts appear to be well-made and

I've seen that pop up in a few YouTube videos, primarily for ginger, but sometimes for garlic. Yours is really pretty for such a function piece of kitchen equipment!
