    New toy for the BGE'ers

They say it will also fit the BGE...

DWCowles Do you do the cook with lid down or up? what is the thinking with fire off to one side? What is the price tag on it?

Lid down. The Joetisserie is wedge shaped, and the slot is in the accessory. Demo videos show the lump pushed to the back; some people use a firebox divider.

    DWCowles ...

Our BGE's don't have the slots in the shell to place the rod on while it rotates. I don't think I'm willing to cut those slots to make it work. But it looks like a good rotisserie.👍

Breadhead if you watch the video you will see that the ring with the slots in it is sold together with the rotisserie. Click on the link beneath the video.

I found a link. It comes with a ring with the grove cut in it and sells for$250.

I don't own one, but I have a KJ and I looked into it. They are $250.
The adapter ring comes with it and is wedge-shaped so you can cook lid-down. I may still pull the trigger on one, but the price is a little hard for me to swallow.

The Joetisserie is a fine tool, but it isn't right for me.

My reservation is that there are maybe a dozen things that I'd love to have that cost about $250, along with half a dozen things I'd love to have that cost $500, and a couple things I'd love to have that cost $1000-$2500.

The truth is that I'm in my 60s and probably would never get enough use out of any of them to justify the cost. If I used the Joetisserie 10 times this season, that would add $25 to each cook. And I probably wouldn't use it that many times, because most of my cooks are burgers and hot dogs and steaks and ribs and chicken thighs and wings, and all of those will come out fine without a rotisserie. So I'd have to amortize the Joe over probably 10 years of once or twice a month use, and that isn't happening. I already did that with a sous vide oven that I've used three times in three years.

But it is cool as hell, for sure.

You don't need to go and get all logical about it.

              But, I agree.

            I agree Mosca ...

When I can buy really kick ass rotisserized whole chickens at Costco for $4.99 why do I want to bother cooking them myself. Plus... I've baked many really good prime rib roasts, no smoke or rotisserie, that came out perfect.

2 hundred and fiddy dollars??? Are they out of their minds?

Let's see... A small motor, a metal rod, a couple of hooks for the meat and a hard plastic ring to make everything fit together. Again, 2 fiddy???

Lol. I love grocery store rotisserie chickens. They cost the same as raw chickens too. Maybe a buck more.

If you really want a rotisserie, you can even get one for your new 26" Kettle.

Those are only $189.99. Huge savings

Breadhead DWCowles Money's evil, so I get rid of mine as soon as I can. Sometimes I even get rid of it long before I get it (thank you Visa).

If your pile of evil money grows to much feel free to mail me a pile now and then.👌

Maybe each of us could put $25 and each and use it for a month. After all, I think most of us just like to try out different toys. It would be fun to play with them without having to build a larger house to house them.

Money isn't evil. It's a tool to acquire other things. If everyone could trade what they produce for things that other people create, there wouldn't be any need for money. It's the hoarding of money that creates the evil.

Many people that have great riches pile up in their bank accounts just give it away... Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and the vast majority of the really, really rich, tend to do that.👍
