I met Uncle Bob and his wife Lee and Purc at the hotel in Ft. Worth today. Without any prior discussions, we all just happened to arrive at the hotel within 15 minutes of each other! 😳 For dinner tonight we decided on Mexican. Lee got on the Google machine and found us a great place about 10 minutes from the hotel! It got pretty good reviews so we decided to try it out…..and yeah, it was very good! 👍👍 We all gave it about a 8 to 8.5……
Lee and I both got Carne Asada
Bob and Bill both ordered Puerco de salsa verde….pork in green sauce tomatillo based
Lee and husband Uncle Bob, Purc [Bill]
We all agreed, many times the little hole in the wall places are the best!

I’m definitely going to try their burger….going to have them cut it into 3 or 4 pieces for others to sample. I don’t want to get full on a hamburger, too much else to try!
Irene and I well be getting the smash burger and the Trinity Platter, and are hoping someone will want to swap a half of Bologna Melt for a half of smash burger. We like to sample at these events, but so many of the places have too much to sample with regular orders.
We got the Trinity which consisted of brisket ( lean and Fatty), ribs, voodoo sausage, and sides of apple slaw salad and broccoli salad. We also got a smash burger which is in the 1st pic and split it with Lee who shared her Bologna Melt.
I’ll second what Sunny said! I had a sample piece of their famous hamburger……awesome! One of the best burger bites I’ve had! Stay tuned, much more to follow…… Their double meat smashburger….
One of the things I really liked about Dayne’s was the authentic BBQ atmosphere of the place…you look up BBQ Joint in the dictionary and there’s a picture of Dayne’s. I’m a dumbass for not getting any interior shots, but it was old, well worn wood floors, a little uneven in places, old signs, wood tables and chairs, etc. In addition to a decent size interior dining area, they also have a large shaded dining area outside. Along with Terry Black’s in Lockhart, this was one of my favorite joints for “authentic” BBQ atmosphere…..
Just one of their three 1,000 gallon Centex smokers
We also got the Trinity tray, with apple slaw and Mac and cheese, along with the Frito pie beans. Shared portions of the bologna melt and smoked burger went around. The sausage was excellent, jalapeno and havarti. The spare ribs were good but not any more than that. The brisket had great flavor and was succulent, it fell apart just touching it so may have been in the warming cabinet a bit long. All in all deserving of the top ten rating.
Beef rib, pork rib, brisket, hot street corn, mac and cheese, and jalapeno cheese sausage plate all great at Dayne's Craft BBQ during the DFW mini Meat Up.
Here’s my tray--turkey, jalapeno-havarti link, bacon brisket, potato salad. All really good. Dayne was readily accessible and personable. Had a nice visit with Uncle Bob and LA Pork Butt and their wives at the table. (Mine was at a quilt show.) Got names and phone numbers with folks so we can “do lunch” locally. Lots of good joints in DFW.
Left side front to back…Leslie [Purc’s daughter in law] , Lee, Uncle Bob
Right side front to back …Will [Purc’s son] Purc, Irene and Sunny, Don [Sooner Pop]
My tray was ribs, brisket, sausage, Mac and cheese and Flamin’ hot street corn…
Frito pie beans
This is probably the first time I’ve eaten at a top BBQ joint where the sides outshined the meats! This isn’t a knock on the meats as much as it is a compliment to the sides. Ok, the meats first…..the brisket was pretty good but not top tier IMO. It was a little too fatty [from the point] and could have used a little more smoke and seasoning, very tender though. Am I being picky? Yep. The ribs, as Uncle Bob said, good but nothing special. Mine was also a little on the small side. I had the jalapeño havarti sausage and it was pretty darn good! Not the best I’ve had but very good none the less……Saving the best for last!
As I mentioned above, I tried some of their double meat smash burger which was a big hit! Very good and juicy with lots of flavor. The Mac and cheese was a hit also, some of the better stuff I’ve tried. The Flamin’ Hot Street Corn was the best corn I’ve had in any BBQ joint! The addition of Flaming Hot Cheetos put it in another league, but even without it, it would have been damn good! I don’t know how in the hell I missed ordering the Frito Pie Beans, and wouldn’t even have known about em if not for Lee. She came over to my table with some of hers and offered me some. I was going to be polite and just try one spoonful. After tasting em, I pigged out on 2 more spoonfuls! Those were some of the best pintos I’ve had in any genre of restaurant. Luckily they didn’t overload them with Fritos, but added just enough for a little crunch. If you go to Dayne’s you’ve got to try em!
Anywho, Dayne’s Craft BBQ is definitely worthy of a trip to Aledo!

Here’s the pits. They produce an amazing amount of food in Aledo, Texas! The two outdoors are 1000 gallon and the original 500 gallon he started with years ago before this place. The enclosed “room” has two 1000 gallon pits. The gentleman who let us in said that last week when the temperatures approached 100°, it was 122° in there even with the fans and screen walls. Phew! Anyway, a very impressive layout and operation. I’ll surely return.
