Wow, this is unbelievable! 😵💫 Never in a million years did I think I’d win anything here, much less twice! 😳 The only thing I’d ever won before was a half gallon of ice cream from an AM radio station in the 70’s. 🙄 I got my email from Huskee this morning and the first thing I saw was “THIS IS NOT A JOKE”. I was floored! Anyway, I spent over an hour contemplating my choices. These are some truly great prizes and I was almost ready to pick the Modern Home Products gas grill until I took some measurements in the garage, with my other cookers and stuff in there, I’ve got one small area left by the wall. I’ve got the charcoal and smoking part covered with my SNS Master Kettle, so while it would be nice to have chosen the Hasty Bake, it wasn’t an absolute need, even if I had room for it. Unfortunately even the smaller size of the Modern Home Products gas grill wouldn’t fit without an overhaul of my garage.
I’m extremely appreciative of Amazing Ribs and the companies for giving away these fantastic prizes! After thinking about this all morning, a lot, I decided to see if I could find a deserving home for one of the prizes and stay within the spirit of the monthly giveaways. I know what you’re thinking, again?! 🙄 This one wasn’t easy, giving up a First Place prize. Anywho, I drove over to a firehouse a few miles away and introduced myself. On the way in I saw their outdoor cooking area, they had a huge gas grill, an offset cooker I found out they mainly use for grilling, and a rusty old Green Mountain Grills pellet pooper. After talking to a few of the heroes there, they said they should let their Captain decide. Two of the guys were really excited about the Broil King Keg and the Weber Searwood. One of them has the Broil King at home he said, and loves it. They were also happy to see the Weber Searwood as a choice. One of em said their old pellet grill they had there was on its last legs and they really liked the Weber. Captain Matt, first name, then came over and introduced himself. After explaining why I was there and showed him the choices, he was genuinely excited about it. We sat there and BS’d about grilling and smoking for a good 20 minutes and he also told me about his cookers at home.
Anyway, he was also torn between the Broil King Keg and the Searwood. If the Broil King was a little bigger he probably would have chosen that, but he said they use the pellet pooper the most, and since theirs was almost dead, decided on the Weber. These guys were truly happy and appreciative about getting a donation like this because all their cookers, they have to buy themselves. Sooo, Huskee me and my new buddy Captain Matt would like the Weber Searwood please. His exact words to me were, “That Weber will be used A LOT! Thanks again Amazing Ribs!

Now THAT’S a first-place move! 👏 Giving up a fantastic prize to feed the folks who look after everyone else says a lot about you. From half a gallon of ice cream in the ’70s to feeding a whole firehouse,you’ve upgraded your winnings! 😂 As a paramedic, I may have to investigate “suspicious smoke” around their dinnertime! 🚑🔥 Huge respect for your generosity Panhead John, and congrats to Captain Matt and the crew.
