Good afternoon to The Pit! I hope everyone is doing well and have been smoking up a storm. This morning I woke up grumpy, but no more than normal when the Huskers lose a close game. I go about my routine by logging into The Pit to check on the current scuttlebutt. After signing in, I have 17 notifications. 17!? I haven't been too active lately, so what's going on? Here I am looking at all of these congratulations from all of you and wondering what did I do now? I guess I had better go see what's going on. Sure enough Huskee had posted I was the new grand prize winner. WTF (I actually said eff bomb, in case you don't know me), this can't be right. Huskee has always said to check your email. Well I'll be Panhead John's uncle, there's the email. Crap, I haven't had my first cup of coffee and I am trying to process all of this.
"JILL!!! Come here and read this!" Needless to say, Jill hasn't had her coffee either, so she's not too happy with me.
"Hey chick, help a brother out and read this to make sure I am not having flashback hallucinations" "Yes, you won dear." Woo-hoo! I responded to Aaron's email telling which prize I was going to announce here to y'all and so here I am.
For years I have always wanted a Hasty Bake and have even mentioned to Aaron, if my name was ever drawn, just go ahead and ship it and we'll deal with the paperwork in the proper time frame. Ha! Yeah, we all dream and talk big until the time actually arrives. Just for kicks and giggles, I should probably peruse the prize list. Kicking off the list is the Blaze. When put to rest my last gasser, I swore I would never own another gasser. However, this little beauty has a lifetime warranty. Hmm, I had better think about this a little more in depth.
Broil King Keg, Spinaker has sung its praises over the years. I have always wanted a kamado and this one is virtually indestructible which would offset my clumsiness AND I can hook to the trailer hitch on my truck. Oh yeah, I got rid of my truck and I have 2 kettles. We will cross this one off the list.
Hasty Bake...hmm...
MHP JNR4. Man, talk about a trip down memory lane! Back in the 70's at the age of 11, I talked mom and dad into buying a gas grill. Back then in our little town you had to buy them from the gas company since none of the stores carried them at the time. I cremated thousands of hot dogs and hamburgers on that thing. Mom and Pops had that thing for over 20 years until somebody decided they needed it more than they did. Ah, the memories.
PK360, I have looked at these at the local BBQ supply shop and I really like how it is built. However, like the BKK, the Webers stay.
SnS package... David Parrish you have created some great products and I am very grateful for your generosity to The Pit. Not only as a business owner, but as the Pit Boss Emeritus and all of the knowledge and lesson you have bestowed on all of us over the years. Thank you!
Alright, I suppose I should wrap this up and end the suspense. As you can see I was not HASTY with my decision, nor was it half BAKEd. There will be a LEGACY in the family and I won't have to wait another 131 months. If you're not into riddles or don't like to read between the lines, I am selecting the....
HASTY BAKE LEGACY 131
The preceding message was not heavily bourbon induced. Just a dram of Old Forester 1920 for the occasion and following it up with a dram of Michter's Rye.
