Well, let’s check the inventory:
-PBC, check
-Green Mountain- David Bowie, check
-Weber one touch, check
-Joule Sous Vide, check (no, not in the offering but though I would list anyway)
-20~ year old, very used gasser, Hmmmm – this could be the opportunity here!
Yes the gasser in my arsenal is well used for spontaneous eats, or crisping up Carnitas on inverted grillgrates, or getting very quick / very hot sear (reverse, of course) – especially now that I do a lot of Sous-Vide-Que. Also, having been a California boy all my life and moving to Minnesota in 2015, a good new gasser will have its place. As an example few zub-zero days, I’ve had to jump-start my Green mountain auger by means of a white-gas backpacking stove placed at floor level underneath to warm it up. Whatever it takes, right? BTW: Minnesota is where my grandsons live so we moved next door- future Pitmasters in the making.
So, I think I’ll modestly and thankfully accept the Saber 500 Cast Black Grill (Thanks for the review, Max!).
I gratefully give credits to the following in historical order:
-Alton Brown – Good eats and more
-America’s test kitchen
-Thermoworks
-Meathead and team – AmazingRibs.com
-Harry Soo – Slap Yo’ Daddy
-J. Kenji Lopez-Alt – The Food Lab
-ChefSteps.com (they make the Joule)
-SeriousEats.com
…but I’ve only won something from AMAZINGRIBS.COM. Wa Hoooo!
Thanks also to those posting congratulatory notes in the thread! You might be next.

* - Favorite Beer - the cold one in my hand (craft beers of all flavors; haven't had a blue yummy in over 6 years) my tastes change with the season so it is difficult to name just a couple. However, I will occasionally have a vanilla porter float in the summer (Empyrean Vanilla Porter w/a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream) as I usually drink stouts & porters in the colder months, pale ales & IPAs in the warmer months. I have to add Not Your Father's Root Beer to beers I use for floats.
* - Booze - I don't really have a favorite, but lean towards single malt Scotch & Irish whiskey
* - Wines - Reds: mainly the heavy stuff mixed in with the occasional pinot noir ( I have yet to meet a malbec I didn't like); Whites: German & Nebraska (hey, I have to support the home team)
* - Favorite Spice outlets - Volcanic Peppers - Bellevue, NE
* - Current butchers: Cure - Ft. Calhoun
