yoder loaded wichita and horizon 20" rd special marshall smokers....identical twins?

Hi been looking at stick smokers and couldn't help but notice these tow are very similar...still on the fence between one of these or a pellet.thanks cookingjack

They are very similar and have a shared history. It doesn't get any easier than pellet smokers, but many believe stick burners, in the hands of a skilled pitmaster, produce the best smoked meats.

I call them kissing cousins. Yoder being the younger cousin.

How much involvement do you want in your cooks? Stickburner = very high involvement. Pellet = very low involvement.

sometimes i have the time needed for a stick burner(once an hour i am assuming)other times a pellet would be handy......main concern is which one cooks the best........that is most important....thanks jack........i have a weber bullet smoker now

Yeah my grill/smoker acquisition plan went on hold when I saw that. If what I read is correct then it will be a very reasonable price for what it is.

Haven't seen that news. Where was it? I'd be interested in following that.

alecksjaycubs It's been mentioned by Henrik who recently attended a workshop of Aaron's. Notice the very end of the top main post here: https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...aaron-franklin under the subheading "Breaking News".

Yeah I know what you mean, here are a few pics of my solution.
It is a Brinkmann Longhorn made by Rodger Davidson of Horizons when he worked them prior to starting Horizons. I mounted my pellet hopper assembly to an adapter plate I made that clamps on to the door opening when the side door is fully opened.

Adding splits in basket above burn pot while running in pellet mode and works fantastic.
