Yoder sells a pizza oven attachment in the range of $400 to $500 which I was thinking about purchasing. However, reading Meathead’s book, I saw a similar set up could be made by employing two pizza stones a few bricks and a flat cooking sheet as a heat shield.
Was wondering if anyone had any opinions, experience, or thoughts on Yoder‘s pizza oven as well as if anyone has used Meathead’s MacGyver hack for the pizza oven.
I have the Yoder insert and it works great. Totally satisfied with how it bakes and great top heat. Also I have made other items such as wings, lasagna, beans...... using a cast iron pan. I did bake a crusty bread once, it came out ok for the first attempt but never tried it again. There are videos on line along with Chef Tom from ATBBQ.
If you haven't already, check out Chef Tom on ATBBQ (allthingsBBQ channel) on YouTube. He does a ton of stuff on Yoders and I have seen him use the pizza oven attachment a couple times. You could do a quick search on his channel and probably get some ideas. It's a niche product, to be sure, but... I am thinking it would be useful if you want to avoid having to buy a whole 'nother grill/oven. Of course, you've still got to store the attachment when not in use, so it does take up some space anyways, but it's an option. Go check it out, Chef Tom does some awesome stuff!
