I just use logs, that's it. Guess I'm with DWCowles on this one. I Put 2-3 fire starter cubes in the middle, then start building a box by piling splits on top in threes, perpendicular to each tier. That forms a box, and I stack 3-4 tiers high. The middles ones are thinner, so they catch on fire quickly. I put a match to the starter cubes, then wait 20 minutes before I start adding logs. It usually comes up to 225° F in 30-40 minutes max.
