You will love it. I own #157 .

My first offset was an Old Country Brazos. Entire time I owned it, I was constantly wondering about what was happening in the cook chamber. With the Franklin, I don't even think about it. I've never done a biscuit test, never measured temps in various spots, just cooked on it.

Aaron says he designed it for optimum air flow .......... and its not a sales pitch, it pulls air. Makes for great bark.

Glad to hear this. I was considering getting a Brazos and modding it up or the new Gen 2…but I knew I would wish I’d just gotten the Franklin in the first place and would end up getting it anyway.

JoshL Never dreamed I'd spend that much on a smoker. But I'd been on his waiting list for 2 or 3 years and when I got the email one was available, I moved on it. By that point I was fed up with the Brazos.

There were no reviews on the internet. Mostly I read people saying that anyone buying the pit were just buying Aaron's name. I thought, well, ...... yeah. He was a barbecue guy who also built pits, rather than a fabricator who also did some barbecue.

Congrats. Keeping true BBQ alive. Look forward to the pics.

Good call, that is a very well built smoker, with great proportions on firebox and smoke stack. And I dig the little but solid shelf for the water pan that redirects hot air in the food chamber. You’re gonna love it.

Frustration is the verdict! Nothing to do with the pit, but we are having the most wintery winter since I've lived here. Very cold, very snowy. That on top of work being hectic, 2 sons playing 5 sports, one son getting Lyme disease, and maintaining the skating rink, all I've been able to do so far is get it into position (took 3 days!), cleaning it up a bit, and do a couple seasoning sessions.

Look man, I'm sorry you're offended. I really didn't mean to do that, but I'm also not going to stand by and be attacked - I am not selling anything. I don't have any financial relationship with the guys from Smokeslinger. We have discussed it, yes, but as of now, there is nothing. I am merely sharing something really good with my community. They're not 'imitators' and Franklin isn't a God - but hey, you obviously have strong feelings about it. I'm sorry if I stepped on your toes, Good luck.

realdocBBQ Everybody selling their " new " smoker has to compare to the Franklin.

                            Every one of them.

As I said, I've already apologized if you felt attacked for your choice. I'm sure it's a lovely smoker. I was merely offering a viable and much less expensive option - which I thought was useful given the comment about blowing one's savings.
