Novice here, at least I still consider myself that. Currently own a pellet smoker but am wanting to move to a true wood smoker. Want to have a little more involvement than just set and forget smoking.
Having read some of Meatheads threads and advice about true stick burners, he made a comment that one should not move to a full stick burner till one has mastered heat and smoke using a charcoal/wood unit.
I was looking at the Lang 36" patio model, but everything I see, people use this as a full wood smoker.
What would be a recommendation for a smoker for someone who wanted to try moving into the more traditional charcoal and wood smokers yet still keep the costs under a bit of control before moving into the full blown wood only setups?
