    new smoker

    Burned it twice about 5 hrs. each time. Cleaned it out, and started my 1st cook ever on a stick burner (or any other smoker for that matter). Wind was a factor, 10-15 mph. Temp started @ 78 deg. and dropped to 41 7 hrs. into the cook. I did a 16# brisket. After I got temp up to 225 I put in peach wood. Did peach for 3 hrs. then back to oak. I struggled to keep temp in 225-230 range and learn how to use damper. Bottom line it was a success. Excellent tenderness and a decent smoke ring.

    Congratulations! In time and with practice, it will all come together. Lots of great info on this site and plenty of Gurus to help when needed.

        Nice! What smoker did you get? And wow, your temp went from 78 to 41 in 7hrs? What a system we're all getting nailed with, crazy stuff.

        Oh and I totally agree with Powersmoke_80 's rules, especially rule #2.

        EDIT: Nevermind I searched an older post of yours...Lyfe Tyme 20x40 double lid...$400 off regular price? Nice score!

            Huskee & Powersmoke_80 - Right now I don't have the stuff to post pictures but when I do I'll put some up. And yeah, it was a good deal. Last one of that size they had and wanted it gone by the end of the year. I wanted the double lid and larger grill for my 1st one.
