Old Glory There's also Johnson Custom BBQ in Texas, Meadow Creek, and Lang. All do RF. I don't think Langs or Johnsons come with the fit and finish of a Shirley, but they are priced competitively (at least they were when I was looking). Good cookers all that will last.

    Panhead John @rickgregory

I don't think it is a case of bait and switch. These guys are just a bunch of Good Ole' Boys welding smokers. They are in the middle of building/moving to a new shop and I don't think the website falls within their technical skill set. On another forum they said they fired their webmaster and haven't had a chance to update anything (this was in 2020). Talking with them and reading about their business I really do not think it was a deliberate bait and switch at all. I don't want anyone to think that they are somehow shady. I was just very disappointed at the increase.

"They fired their last web master and has not been updated for three years now and they are going to find another guy to run but are trying to get the new shop going first with a bunch of new tools to get orders out faster . The base 36 model is $1,975 and only has a few upgrade option like the shelf any thing else is considered a custom build with the longer wait time ."

"Thx for a the kid words and post.....Guys we are in the process of many things.... i spoke with Tyler about the site we are very aware that we need a new one and believe me it's coming....as is other things too.... Tyler has closed on the shop.... bought a new industrial sandblaster.... 50 horse 3 phase compressor so once in the new shop all of our blasting will be done on site.... right now we have to load cookers up... carry to the refinery where i work, get them blasted, go back and pick them up.... its labor intensive ....things will change but we can't do it all in a day.... it is going to take time.... currently waiting to get the three phase power upgraded to 800 amp.... and get everything wired....."

I am still looking hard at them but before, at $1,975, they were a tremendous value. Now they are on the same level as Lone Star, Klose, Gator, and other pitts. I am hoping they can work with me on the price but they have a waiting list a mile long so the demand for them is there.

Well I bit the bullet and put down a deposit on a 36 Patio model.

After comparing SF to a number of other pit makers they were still a better value. Quality is considered top notch. They include many accessories that cost extra with other pits. Shipping was inline with what I was seeing from other makers as well. I need larger tires because I will need to pull it out and across a small section of lawn.

I skipped the stainless steel shelf but can add that later when ss prices come back down.

I priced out Lone Star, Shirley, Klose, and Lang.

Lone Star - The Rolls Royce. Was the most expensive but fit and finish on those smokers looks incredible. After adding up all the accessories and off-road tires it was a great deal more expensive. If pricing was equal it would have been a much tougher choice.

The Klose - A Cadillac. Was nearly the same price but they don't offer off-road wheels. If they did it would be an expensive upgrade (like all other builders). These pits looked very nice. Very nice people to talk with.

Lang - Lincoln Continental. The least expensive of the pits I priced out. 5-8 month wait. Had heard people talking about hit or miss quality control issues. Reverse flow Gold Rated on Amazing Ribs. Owners seem to love them.

Shirley - Toyota Land Cruiser. Includes Probe Port, Fire Basket, off road capable wheels, coal rake, ash pan, and is built out of 3/8 steel instead of 1/4 inch steel. With everything included and a beefier build it was a better value in my opinion.

Is TN too far away? There is 2021 base patio model for sale for $2,300. https://www.facebook.com/groups/4231...7173350515956/

Whiskey has helped me buy things, amazing how it causes me to remember my PayPal login with lighting speed and accuracy. I must hereby shun the Vesper, for I do not need any further assistance in that regard.

        Oh, and congrats!

I didn't realize you had a Shirley too. Lucky you! You should update your profile list of BBQ toys to include her.

Thanks Kathryn! I got mine back in Nov. I updated my Bio in my profile with the Shirley, but I don't see another place to list my cookers. Can you please point me in the right direction?

efincoop , you have some of your BBQ toys listed--I see them by clicking on that little pen-tip icon on the left side of each of your posts below your avatar and location description.

To get to that list, click My Membership in the menu bar at the top of any page. From the drop-down menu, click My Settings. When the Settings page opens, click the tab near the top that says Account. Scroll down to Conversation Detail Options and click Edit Post Signature. That's where you can add or edit your toys. When you're done, click Save and exit the page.

          In a nutshell,
          My Membership>>My Settings>>Account>>Conversation Detail Options>>Edit Post Signature>>Save

          HTH,
          Kathryn

Playing with the Shirley. Babyback ribs Hot and Fast and some "Italian Sub" and "Black Garlic Hoisin" Sausages.

Still trying to figure out this thing but it ran pretty steadily at 350 for 3 hours.
