1st Season with or without mods?

Seasoning my New Longhorn this week. $400 new in box at Church fundraiser donated and assembled by a local True Value. The discount allowed me to buy Lava Lock Tuning system, Nomex gasket and 2000degree adhesive. I have self fabricated a charcoal box from old grill grates, and will do a smoke stack extension from my old COS per some suggestions. ( I'm also converting the rest of the old COS into a table and maybe herb garden. Hope to post pics when its all done ).

My question is should I install all mods before 1st seasoning or after and does it matter? I will wait on the smoke stack extension mod until after I see how it operates to gage how much to extend and lower it or if it needs it at all.

    Thanks!

I'd all the mods before seasoning. That way you won't have to mess with them later.

The more fires you run through it before installing your mods, the bigger the mess you'll have to clean up to install certain mods.

Thanks! Makes sense now but I would've not thought of that. I was leaning towards adding after a few runs. Thanks for lending me your experience.
