Last fall I saved an ice fishing house frame with KBS seal, it was great to work with and it’s holding up very well. Can’t recommend this company enough. Then I noticed they do high temp paint. My highland’s firebox is looking rough and I love modding it so I’m going to sand all the crap paint off and repaint in KBS this spring.
What color should I do? I’m leaning toward cast iron grey, stainless steel, or charcoal metallic. What do you think?
KBS Xtreme Temperature Coating is a high temperature/heat resistant coating and header paint formulated specifically to protect metal surfaces operating at temperatures from 500 degrees F to 1500 degrees F.
I think something is off in your poll. I clicked "rocket red' as the first vote and it showed up as 100% votes for charcoal metallic... in other words, off by one
If you paint the inside, I suggest black 'cause it will soon be black anyway. (I don't think the inside will need painting anyway.) I like charcoal metallic for the outside.
Yeah inside is fine, main cooking compartment exterior is fine, firebox is rough. Good opportunity to get ahead of rust and class it up a little. And I can paint my smokestack extension the same color as the cooker
About Me
My name is Josh, not Joey (surprise), and I reside in Central Ohio. I have been grilling since I could drive, and smoking for around 15 years. Over the past couple of years I have gotten more into just cooking, and really enjoy sous vide and the flat top. I find myself experimenting with different foods and new ways of cooking as an outlet to work stress. I use every piece of equipment I own regularly, with the exception of the electric smoker. That only gets brought out on occasion to make jerky.
My favorite beverage is bourbon. I typically have at least 8-10 bottles open at any given time. While I have favorites, I enjoy sampling new and different varieties.
Rocket Red wins with a second place finish for Charcoal Metallic. I’m painting the Highland Rocket Red with Charcoal Metallic wheels, shelves, handles, and firebox door. Thanks for the help deciding
