Recommended supplier in GA or mail order

    Hi Everyone,

I think this might be my first post, although I do come and read from time to time.

Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask this, please move if appropriate. I thought about asking in the Suppliers section, but that seemed to be dedicated to recommending actual suppliers rather than a general query.

I'm off soon for my almost regular yearly vacation to Clayton, GA, and am looking for recommendations for suppliers of spare ribs and bone-in pork belly.

At home (UK) I buy Swift spare ribs, and have an excellent pork butcher on my doorstep. When buying pork belly in the USA (Ingles, or farmers markets) I find it's quite thin, which I understand since ribs are the focus. I prefer to buy bone-in and debone it myself as you end up with more flesh.

So I am looking for a supplier either in the Sandy Springs area of Atlanta, or 30 minute drive from Clayton, or mail order. Ribs don't have to be Swift, but have always been happy with them, but very happy to use another product. Belly around 3kgs.

    Many thanks

          Welcome from Manassas VA

Cant comment on a local supplier; however, for Memorial Day I bought 12 slabs from Wegmans and those ribs were beautiful!

Did you post somewhere how it went? Pics?

This one would be an online delivery for you or about a 6hr drive. Mosca speaks very highly of their Cheshire pork. Oh, and welcome to the pit.

We have the most amazing cuts of pork butt, bacon, ham, pork belly, pork chops, BBQ, Salami, and much more.

Hmm. The bone in part is tricky for the U.S for the pork belly but the ribs are easy to find.

I would give Meat N’ Bone a call and see if they can find it.

Skin on pork belly is a prized cut of pork meat for curing, turning into bacon or pancetta, or braising. Buy heritage pork belly from ethically raised pigs.

Salutations from Hays, Kansas! Sorry I’m of no help regarding your query. Welcome to the Pit! If you will be in the US for a bit Creekstone Farms has excellent Duroc pork ribs and they ship them.

Good luck and enjoy your visit!

I'm originally from Marietta, near Sandy Springs, Georgia, but haven't lived there since the late 1990's, and when I did, I got all my ribs and Boston butts at Costco or Sam's Club. I.e. it was commodity meat - I never even knew about things like heritage pork breeds at that point in time. Those are membership shopping clubs though, but I imagine you can find Swift ribs at a grocery store if you check around. Kroger in Georgia should carry them.

I live in the Alpharetta area and I can recommend Patton's Meat Market in Duluth. They have amazing stuff and if not in store you can always ask for it.

In Milton, which is right next door to Alpharetta is the New York Butcher Shoppe and Wine Bar. Great fresh meat products, wine bar, monthly wine club, restaurant and prepared fresh and frozen take-out foods. This is a franchise. It is great. I go there every time I visit family in the area. My family shops there every week.

                          Welcome from St. Cloud, FL.

I have a great source (M & T Meats) but it is 2 hours south in Hawkinsville.
