I kind of thought the same thing as Papa Bob. Looks like a great place, and I wondered if those gov't dudes with their suits and their shades get their steaks from there. They can afford it all you know..
I don't think there was ever a president in history whose after-presidency pictures were thinner than his pre-presidency pictures. You know they eat good. Their chefs might frequent this place!

I can vouch for Harvey's. You ask the butcher there, and he will tell you where every piece of meat came from, and what they were fed. I wish there were more "real" butcher shops in DC.

Weber One-Touch Platinum (the discontinued 4-legged, dome hole in the middle model plus a Smokenator when smoking); ThermoWorks TW 3628 & Kintrex IRT 0421 for briskets & other long cooks; Taylor Weekend Warrior (for the lanyard, not the cooktemps) & several ThermoPens for all others. I fully embrace the Minion Method and use Kingsford classic briquettes & Cowboy hardwood charcoal exclusively. Dry woodchips, of course. Beer - Devils Backbone Vienna Lager; bourbon - ALL but Bonded is preferred.
I agree about Harvey's. In the same place (Union Market in NE WashDC) is Red Apron Butchery which has wonderful smoked meats. If you can't get to Union Market, try Wagshal's (www.wagshals.com) in upper Northwest WashDC. I've been shopping at the Massachusetts Ave NW shop since 1975. It also has a larger shop on New Mexico Ave NW. Wagshal's isn't cheap, but they are great on service and selection.
