    Hey there from Alberta Canada

I’m a new member. My name is James. Originally from Texas but have been living in and around Calgary AB for the last 20 years.
Currently I live near Longview AB. Looking at the Rocky Mountains every day. (20 min away)

Ironically I never did much bbq/smoking in Texas but I ate a lot of it. I missed it so I started cooking it and learning during the past twenty years.
I'm anxious to learn from this site and meet new people.

I have just a simple chargriller smoker. It does the job but would like to upgrade soon. Maybe build my own!

I look forward to meeting you and reading all this site has to offer.

    Thanks

Welcome to the Pitmaster Club! Great intro picture! There is something about looking at the mountains that makes you feel connected. I love it every time I go west.

Since you’re new, and if you haven't already done so, please check out our homework assignment post for new members, it contains a few how-tos and please-dos. This will help you learn your way around so you can get the best experience from our forum.

Also, it's very important that you:

Give us an email address you actually use. You can check the email we have on file for you by clicking your name in the upper-right, then User Settings, then the Account tab. It’s tied to your Pitmaster Club account as well as our payment processor, Stripe. Don’t worry though, you can change it by simply visitinghttps://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/pi...il-request.php

Add the domain AmazingRibs.com to your email safe list. We NEVER spam! This is important so you can receive special deals we occasionally work out for our members, receive notices about your account, such as if you’re up for renewal or are ever drawn as our monthly Great Giveaway Monthly Sweepstakes winner, which is open to all paying USA members or those with a USA delivery address (we’d hate to have to pick another person because you don’t answer us)!

Keep the smoke rollin’ and thank you for the support.

Welcome to the Pit from the Okanogan Valley of Washington state. Nice name, I've been called that a few times, but mostly something that refers to an orifice or my parents not being married! ;-) Even nicer deck. I flew into Calgary forty years ago with my new bride on our way to spend the week in Banff. Very beautiful country. I can see why you haven't made it back to Texas! ;-)

Along with tips, techniques, and recipes about BBQ we have a lot of fun.

If you like music, go to this thread to hear what others are listening to and share what you like.

For jokes, go to this thread.

And here to enjoy some beautiful sunsets. And where you could post some of the Rockies! (hint, hint)

Go to this thread to post where you work and what your hobbies are and get to know other members here.

We are happy to have you along and looking forward to your participation.

      Thanks for all the information!

We took a road trip to Washington in Aug to Spokane for a concert with friends.
Beautiful country just wish we could have seen more.
Yes it’s beautiful here but I do miss the Texas weather, especially lately.
I will definitely check out those links you posted.

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.

The Cool Kettle With The Hinged Hood We Always Wanted

Napoleon’s 22″ Pro Cart Charcoal Kettle Grill puts a few spins on the familiar kettle design. In fact, the hinged lid with a handle on the front, spins in a rotary motion 180 degrees. It’s hard to beat a Weber kettle, but Napoleon holds its own and adds some unique features to make the 22″ Pro Cart a viable alternative.

Amazingribs.com temperature magnet
Winner of the National BBQ Association’s product of the year award. This 8.5″ x 11″ magnet contains more that 80 benchmark temperatures for meats (both USDA recommended temps as well as the temps chefs recommend), fats and oils, sugars, sous vide, eggs, collagens, wood combustion, breads, and more. Although it is not certified as all-weather, we have tested it outdoors in Chicago weather and it has not delaminated in three years, but there is minor fading.
