    DrBearSec, here

Hi all! Introducing myself yo the group. I'm a Chicago suburbanite, living about 45-3 hours from the city (depends on traffic). I work in Infosec as a consultant. I enjoy grillin and smokin year round. My current gear is a 30inch Masterbilt Electric smoker and Weber Gold Summit B. I am purchasing a Pit Barrel Smoker soon. Gear Id most like is a Primo XXL or even better, a Kamado Komodo. I like cooking steak and smoking brisket the best. I've used a few of the recipes on the site... The dry brine article has been especially enlightening. Thanks so much!

Thanks Everyone! Looking forward to it... Have used the site for a while on certain recipes but never dug in deep. As much as I like the recipes, the science proving or disproving certain beliefs is what I love (and some were things I fully believed like turning the steaks). Really love it!

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It’s among the best bargains for a smoker in the world. This baby cooks circles around cheap offset smokers because temperature control is so much easier. Click here to read our detailed review and the raves from people who own them.

GrillGrates Take Gas Grills To The Infrared Zone

GrillGrates amplify heat, prevent flare-ups, make flipping foods easier, kill hotspots, flip over to make a fine griddle, and can be easily moved from one grill to another. Click here for more about what makes these grates so special.

A Propane Smoker That Performs Under Pressure

The Masterbuilt MPS 340/G ThermoTemp XL Propane Smoker is the first propane smoker with a thermostat, making this baby foolproof. All you need to do is add wood to the tray above the burner to start smokin’. Click here to read our detailed review.
