    Last grill suggestions.......

Retiring after 34+ years in the military and moving from Massachusetts to Coastal North Carolina. Looking to spend up to $2000. on what I hope is my last propane gas grill. I currently grill roughly 3-4 days a week, snow storm or not. Looking for advice and suggestions.......

Welcome and thanks greatly for your service!!!

Never done the propane grill number (yet) but others will chime in with much experience. Have you searched the database on the main site to maybe narrow it down some?

Yes. I've been following AmazingRibs since my tour in Afghanistan in 2010. Great site and it has helped to narrow the field.

Welcome to the Pit! Can't go wrong with a Weber Summit. Here's a local link to reviews of the Summit and many, many more:

Can't go wrong with a Weber Summit. Also, Broil King makes a pretty darn good gas grill Check out the review section on the site for lots of recommendations.

Thanks for your service. I hope you enjoy your retirement. A new grill is a great way to kick it off.

Weber has some pretty good options at that price point. If you'd be will to spend 1/3 more, your get a Memphis Grill. Thy run on pellets. So you can grill, smoke and sear. They are amazing rigs. But if you don't wanna go that high then look too Weber, they make a good product and they are reasonable.

Have you been able to sear well with a pellet grill?

Congrats and thank you for sour service to our country! I would highly recommend a Weber. You can't go wrong with one as they cook evenly, work great, and it's easy to find replacement parts to keep them going for a long time. My Weber is at least 15 years old and still works great!

I had a Weber before my current Vermont Castings...which I've been happy with the last 15 years.

Welcome from NW Arkansas. I have a great 12 year old Weber Genesis Gold and it cooks as good today as when new.

Welcome SFCGary. There are a lot of great options out there for gassers. I'll second or third the recommendations to look at the review database on the site.

But for us to help a bit more, it would help to know what you want to do with it and how.

I have watched the review section on the site for years. I currently use a separate smoker maybe once a week or so. I bbq just about everything and anything, unlike the majority of the NE that grills (fast and hot).

I'd suggest spending $1K on a Weber Genesis and take the other $1K and get a kamado.

That way you can use the gasser for burgers and dogs and smoke pork butts for pulled pork on the kamado. Since you're going to be in eastern NC being able to make pulled pork is a requirement for residency.

SFCGary So, if you're set for a smoker, I'd look into a gasser for searing and high temp cooking - which to me means infrared. The TEC cookers are incomparable (I have their cheapest model, the Cherokee, but wish I had the G-Sport that is the next one up). The Sabers look really good too, at a lower price-point.

Max Good might have more advice for you. Needless to say, the upper model Webers are undeniably good.

I know you want a gas rig but since your retired I would consider a Weber Charcoal Summit Grill. The WCSG does a good job on everything.

Weber and Broil King make very nice gas units. They would be my my starting points of research.

Welcome from Indiana. Keep your eyes open as Weber is supposed to be retiring a couple of models of the summit series. You may be able to get a heck of a deal!
