                      Hello from NW Oregon,
Pork butt is so easy even I can smoke it on my Traeger.
There are those who do not wrap, but i do wrap a pork butt in foil.
Glad to have you on board.

Welcome from Middle Tennessee! Pork butt was my first real smoke too. It *is* forgiving, but it does indeed take a long time.

Read meatheads pulled pork recipe on the free side. That’s what got me making proper barbecue more than a dozen years ago.

I don’t wrap my butts, as I like them to come out looking like a meteorite. At 250°F my butts take 14+ hours. Looking forward to your write up of your first cook!

                                Welcome from Cincy Ohio!
My first smoker was an electric cabinet "Authentic Smoke Hollow". It was great with bacon. A briskie took 41 hrs.
I did not have the patience and quickly got The Pit Barrel Cooker, PBC. My first smoke with charcoal. Incredible!
We love pics. We are glad you are here!
