New Member - Grill Industry Product Guy

Hello everyone! Long time lurker, first time member. My setup at home right now is an OKJ Bronco and a Current Electric Griddle.

Just a quick bit about me, I've been working in the grill industry for 15 years. I've worked at some of the most well known brands around and am currently (pun intended?) the Head of Product for Current Backyard, a new brand and product platform of all electric grills. Aside from that, I've been a griller and smoker my whole life and have cooked on any and every type of product out there. I'm down in GA so it's year-round grilling season here. I really enjoy the science of cooking and feel like I learn something new every time I browse these forums.

I like the Bronco best. It's a relatively small footprint, so my wife doesn't get mad at me having it on the patio, but I can sear, grill or do a 15hr smoke with the same unit, and it's good at all of it.

Current_Seth If I wasn’t invested in a BGE and had only one cooker I think that be would be it. I cooked a number of years on an old bullet smoker, but getting up in the middle of the night to add fuel and it’s inability to grill gave way to the BGE pre Bronco.

Another satisfied Bronco owner here, howdy from Houston Seth and Welcome To The Pit! I’ve got an SNS Kettle also, where I do all my grilling, I find it’s easier to set up and I have a larger footprint than the Bronco for grilling. But you’re right, it can do both things very well!

Welcome to the Pit from Alabama! Glad to have you on board!

As an electrical engineer and an avid backyard cook, I'll be curious to see how your product line of electric grills pans out. The challenge I think would be providing a true grilling experience within the limitations of a 120V/15A circuit.

You're absolutely right, and that's why you virtually never see "full-size" electric grills in the US with 120V/15A. It's just super hard to get the cooking surface hot enough to provide good performance and overcome lid opening and closing, cold weather, windy conditions etc. I'll make sure to show some pictures or video any time I'm cooking!
