I cannot imagine that 15A@115V is enough power to really have some fun.

What fun! Blow a fuse or two--Old school, trip a circuit breaker or two.

Just keep a handful of pennies around

A lot of the attraction to grilling is being able to produce smoke and not have your house filled with it. So I guess an electric grill could work.

"the world's best electric outdoor cooking brand" that I've never seen or heard of before. I'd rather but grill grates large enough to span a Tesla. Now there's an electric grill!

Probably a market for them with apartment and townhouse dwellers.

exactly the target (though I'm sure some greenspeak will be in marketing). The number of rental places and townhomes across the US banning charcoal and more recently propane and pellet cookers is growing.

I bet this has market potential. I'm sure it would do an excellent job with roti and a big part of delicious food is searing to get crust and flavor. I have an electric car, why not an electric grill? I agree 💯 percent with Attjack that getting the smoke out of the house is a shared goal for many🔥🔥🐿️

Well, you might ask the new guy Current_Seth if you have any questions. Seems he is big cheese with this company.

haha no principal here. I'm just here to talk BBQ as an enthusiast, but I'm more than happy to answer any questions about Current. I also welcome any feedback, good, bad and ugly.

Mebbee a dumb question , but could ya put in a smoke tube or pouch like ya can in a gasser or would ya foul up some electrickital gizmos or wires?

You can definitely add smoke tubes or pouches. It won't mess anything up at all. We include a couple 304SS trays, one solid and one slotted, and you can put wood chips or pellets in the solid tray to generate smoke.

The trays sound like they can act like GrillGrates. 😎

I would be one of the target markets for this. I have an enclosed lanai on the second floor of a townhouse on the Gulf Coast of Florida. It's nice to cook outside during the summer months without worrying about random pop-up thunderstorm downbursts. The WSJ does OK in the rain; the PBCj doesn't even like a sprinkle.

Ten years ago, I tried aChar-Broil Bistro. I am not impressed with how it leaked "gunk" and was hard to clean. When the electric controller gave out, I didn't bother to replace it.

I tried a Nordic Ware Stovetop Kettle Smoker on an induction cooktop a few times. It seemed like a gimmick, and I donated it to a thrift shop.

Next up was a Weber Q. I spent a few years trying different hacks like replacing the iron grates with aftermarket thin stainless, using a set of GrillGrates borrowed from the WSJ, and adding a smoking tube for wood pellets. Trying to keep accurate temps with the analog controller was frustrating.

Last year, I noticed YouTube videos from influencers promoting the Ninja Woodfire Grill. What made me pull the trigger was watching videos from people who did more than put a steak on a brand new grill, cook it, and say, "That tastes good." I want to know the good/bad points, how easy it is to clean, etc. So far, I'm impressed with what the Ninja can do for what it is.

That being said, there's a thing around here where folks tend to "collect" cookers, so this may be something for me to consider. The Current needs real-world YouTube videos to make a purchase decision (no, I'm not looking to do YouTube).

I'm a demanding customer and critical of my skills. After much trial and error, I learned how to turn out ok BBQ on an offset in the 90s.

That's really good feedback. There are definitely a lot of Youtube videos coming, and we recognized the same issue that people need to see real folks cooking to believe any of the claims. I've been impressed with the Ninja grill as well and have been next to them at a couple tradeshows recently so we've had some great conversations. Good tasting food and pretty simple to use. The main limitation is just the size of it, but depending on your situation that may not be an issue at all
