I’m a 14” & 22” Weber Kettle guy, but also a 14” & 22” Weber WSM guy…
the WSM’s effectively ended my need to long cook in my kettles…
But about 12 or 13 years ago, I made myself these simple devices… and if I needed to long cook in a kettle today, I’d use them….
The small side holds a chimney of charcoal…
The large side holds an 11” x 14” oval foil pan… re-shaped to the section…
I add my fluid of choice to it, and it catches the juices from the meat during the cook…
I have no need for an SNS… The foil pan is reused until I finally poke a hole in it…
My grill stays clean and my ribs stand in a rack nicely…. 3 fit easy, 4 is a bit of a challenge to keep from touching the lid…
Scrap expanded metal comes in handy… one is 4” and this one is 5” tall…

Traeger Lil Tex, Weber Gas Grill, and 42 year old Weber Kettle
ThermoWorks: ThermoPen, Smoke, and Signals
In the past, side box smoker, gas, electric and charcoal vertical smokers
Welcome from Pasadena, California.
Like you, I was a long time lurker on the free site. Last week I signed up for the free trial, after a few days of reading all the great info from the Pitmaster members, I thought what am I doing? I realized how just reading the free side all those years had upped my BBQ game. I became a dues paying member after only a few days.
I learned about the S'N'S on the free side, I highly recommend it, and use it on 22" Weber kettle. The only problem with this site are all the options! :-)
Have fun,
Felix

Bricks, cheap Weber baskets & SnS. I’ve used em all. You definitely get what you pay for in this case. Plus, the SnS was given birth here buy two members of the Pit and is owned by one of em. Not that it matters, but i’m a loyal kind of guy. I do remember usin the SnS the first time. I wouldn’t have a kettle without it. Welcome, eat good, wibs is a nice choice, & have fun.

FireMan - Yep! I understand loyalty - especially to something that *works*!! And it appears that the SnS meets that definition. Pardon me while I put on a hardhat; perhaps someone will drop an SnS y'all keep beating me over the head with and I can get one for the price of a headache instead of the $100+ from Amazon
