Could you eliminate the chimney by placing the charcoal directly into the grill and placing 2 to 4 charcoal starters throughout the coals? I do this with my Bronco. I use something like these: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Royal-Oak-1...E&gclsrc=aw.ds -- can find them pretty economically on Amazon.

for years I used a portable gas grill that used lava rock over the burner. That produced really good BBQ results.

Yes I had wondered what happened to that lava rock idea. Haven't seen them for awhile.

        Welcome!

The PK Go with a few tumbleweed or cube starters may work for you.

Looks like PK also has a "PKGO Hibachi", looks like the same machine with no cover for a LOT less.

garyterr I know it's more expensive but I would go PKGO with flip kit or not at all. The only thing you can do in habachi mode is grill, with the flip kit you can grill 2x as much, but you can also do 2 zone cooking and smoke smaller proteins. It is expensive, but I've left mine out on the deck for over a year now and the grill is in amazing shape.

            Welcome from California!

Bigger than proposed, but for years I ran a Webber Performer. Built in gas ignition for lighting charcoal. Super easy.
