    New BBQ club member

    Hey everyone,

I hope everyone has a great 4th. I live in South Dakota and have been enjoying BBQ for years. I started out on a cheap bullet style to see if I enjoyed it. Then, after I was hooked, I quickly realized that managing temps and managing young kids were not easy. I had a Green Mountain Grill and enjoyed that for several years and also have a Weber kettle. I spend too much time on YouTube watching BBQ channels and on Meathead's live broadcast I learned about the Pitmaster club. Other tools I use a lot are my Fireboard (first gen) and Javelin Pro. I currently am in the market to get a new pellet smoker/grill. I have been reading up on Pitts and Spitts and Mak grills. I would like an American made unit but the price point makes me pucker a little. Any thoughts/suggestions are welcome and I look forward to learning from all of you.

    Thanks and happy grilling!

    Welcome from the California Delta.
Both smokers you mention are great units. I have a Yoder YS640 which is made in Kansas which I love. The new models have a fireboard controller.

Yoder Smokers are designed for years of of heavy use. We construct our line of competition-grade smoker pits in America, backed with a 10 year warranty.

Welcome from Wisconsin. I have a Recteq but if you want American made, there’s a lot of buzz about the Lone Star Grills pellet smoker.

Welcome from Iowa. But I was born in South Dakota and lived there for many years. I have an original Grilla, from when they were made in Holland, MI, but they aren't any more. So when I wanted a little bigger pellet burner I added a Blaz'n Grid Iron. Made in Beatrice, NE. Depending on just where in SD you live you could drive down and pick it up and not have to worry about shipping. I've been very happy with mine.

Thanks Bogy for the feedback. My brother has a Blaz'n and has been happy with his. They have good support as well. They recently sold the grilling side of their operations and have been waiting to see what changes they would be making. I will definitely keep them on my radar.

rduhaime I hope they continue to make them in the U.S. It's still on the opening page of their website, so I have hopes.
