        Actually it can be done but the real issue is removing the fiberglass liner if it has one. I’ve heard of people trying to burn it out, sandblast it out, etc.
        Not real sure of their success though.
        The thickness is usually 14 gauge or so so it is pretty thin but it will work fine pending cleanup.
        Have you tried looking for air compressor tanks? Those are usually easy to find and less cleanup.

                  Welcome. I live in Ohio, but I’m proudly from the Missouri Ozarks. I also travel a lot to MO. Just this past week I was in Northern, MO, Central MO, SW MO, and ran 44 from Joplin to St. Louis.

                  PS. The burgers at Black Sheep in Springfield are amazing.
