Caution! Never Clean Your Kettle Lid…

I haven’t done a good cleaning of my kettle in…well, never. I finally got sick of looking at my dusty ass, gunk infected kettle lid and decided to clean it last Tuesday. Took a brush and some Dawn Power Wash to it…..damn, came out lookin’ pretty darn spiffy! Hmm, the kettle bowl now looked pretty crappy with that shiny lid sittin’ on it. Ok, I’ll clean that tomorrow then! Next day cleaned the bowl out real good, inside and out. Damn it looked good now!



Well hell, now I look over at the Pit Boss griddle…it looked like crap! It had serious gunk, dust and whatever all over it…looked down right terrible. Ok, let’s pull her out and give it a good cleaning. I spent about 30 minutes wiping it down and rinsing off what I could, without worrying about messin’ something up. It looked a LOT better now! I roll it back into the garage…

Trust me, this is lots better than before!


Damn those cookers looked good now! ……it’s a shame they’re sitting inside a filthy cob web infested garage. 🙄 I leave my garage door open all day while I’m home. My garage walls had years of dust showing on the textured pebbles, in fact everything in my garage had dust all over it, all my cooking stuff, the shelves, refrigerator, my little freezer…every single thing was dusty and filthy looking. Guess what?…….



Over a period of 3 days…. I took a broom to all the walls knocking off the dust and cobwebs on the ceiling and corners, removed everything from the garage, almost. I cleaned all my shelves, tool cabinet, ice chests, charcoal caddies, cooking gear…pretty much everything in there! 😳 What I couldn’t just rinse off with a hose I wiped it down with a soapy cloth.

Cleaning the filthy floor was today’s job…


Wheww….I just finished about noon today. And my sister calls me anal! Ha! Anyway……

It works that way with a remodel. One thing looking new makes everything else look old. Be careful what you start!

Oh man! I painted a bed room and started a mess like that once. A year later I had a remodeled house. That experience caused me to come up with Lynn’s rule 27-c. Never create contrast in your life. Always seek harmony. Do you have any idea how much trouble I’ve caused myself by considering something shiny compared to what I have? The list is tribute to a misspent life! I just hope you can stop when you look around at your kitchen as you come in from the garage.
