    Solo Stove Pi Prime Review

I got a Solo Stove Pi Prime last week and overall I think I like it better than my Ooni Koda 16. It can only handle a 12 inch pizza compared to a 16 inch pie on the Ooni but it seems like it cooks a bit more evenly and the crusts don't burn quite as easily as with the Ooni.

The first Solo Stove Pi was a dual fuel model but this one is only gas. I tested the regular Pi with wood but really didn't care for it vs. gas. A bit too fiddly and you could only use pretty small pieces of wood. Ash was a concern after a while too. And since it is cooking so hot and so quick the wood doesn't really impart flavor so I just used the gas all the time anyway.

And the thing only costs $349. If it is like every other Solo Stove product I am sure it will regularly be on sale for $299 which is a great price. The original Pi is $500 with the gas attachment so you are saving quite a bit to get rid of the wood option which I didn't care for anyway. I also like that they moved the control knob to the front of the unit.

If you are looking for a first pizza oven or looking to replace what you have and don't want to break the bank this is a great option.

Wow, I like HAD ZERO interest in owning a pizza oven or making my own pies, but I love pizza, and then you mentioned the dough and what not you could order. Man that is tempting.....course I could just move next door. Let me go check for job openings.

The dough balls themselves are $110 for 24 dough balls so yeah, more expensive than making it yourself but not crazy expensive. And super convenient. I tried them once and they are great but it is pretty simple to just make dough at home so I usually just do that. Now if they sold prestretched crusts that would be another story

Nice review, Joe. That looks like a cool product.

Looks great! And much easier to use than making pizza on my kamado (or kettle). I think though that the wife would murder me if I had another cooker at the moment, but maybe one day...

barelfly I've actually been asked to stop cooking so much red meat, as I am making us all fat! To be honest, I've actually NOT grilled anything since the 18th... sad! I made a vegetarian stir fry in a wok one day last week, then we've been sick as dogs since Friday....

Hope you both get to feeling better! That’s no fun at all!
