Anyone with experience/preferences?
A couple are listed on the KBQ site; one shows out of stock.
My rig sits on a covered patio, open on the sides. Foil pans, weighted down, cover the controller and firebox. Water finds its way into the smoke chamber, even here in a desert.
I have the cover that is currently unavailable, and it works great. The other one should work fine too. Plus you can leave firebox on the cookbox. KBQ's accessory recommendations have been spot on.
I am on my third one. They have a 24 month warranty. The first lasted 22 months. The second, 11 months. We'll see about the third which is a warranty replacement.
My first lasted about 3 years and developed a hole (thin on top). Bought #2 about 2 yrs ago and put it on. Then installed #1 over #2 (double layered). #2 looks like new @ 2yrs.#1 will go in the trash soon and #3 will get protected by #2.

I have the controller box inside my garage, I leave the firebox and cook box outside in the elements. Firebox goes in the cook box. It has made it 10 years with no problems. I cover the holes on top of the cook box but that is about it. If water gets in, it drains out the bottom holes at the corner. No big deal.
If I was going to cover it, I would just go buy a black or brown tarp, then throw a bungee around it to keep it in place.
I ordered a custom cover from https://www.the-cover-store.com/
I leave the firebox in place, as it helps shed water as a high spot. The control box goes inside.
I used their chair template, and measured the height at back, height at front, and width.
It fits well, but at the time I ordered it they weren’t offering canvas (eg: Sunbrella) as an option. Ashes landed on the cover when I left it in the ground too close to the smoker, and the plastic/nylon/whatever quickly melted a few small holes.
So keep the cover away from the smoker when you are using the KBQ.
