    Offset smoker trailer refurbish

This is something I've wanted to do for a loooong time. I have a nice smoker, but it is placed on a regular trailer. I want the whole unit to look more "BBQ". And I want to weld the smoker to the trailer so it never moves. So there's a bit of styling to be done on this one. But I have a plan, and know exactly how to build it, so good times ahead! I have already gone with the 'rugged' (rusty) old school look on my smoker, so I'm gonna take that even further with my trailer rebuild. I'm going back to the 1930s with my new design, and it's gonna incorporate quite a bit of woodwork too.

The job for today was to get everything off the trailer. That took some effort. And then start dissassembling everything. What I did was cut off the leg frame with a steel grinder, then shorten the legs, and weld it back on. I dropped it a good 6 inches, so it sits lower. I also started stripping the trailer. I will cut off the two side walls completely, and replace the worn out bottom board. The fenders are a gonner too, et.c. I won't reveal too much here and now, but I'll post pictures as the build progresses.

The ugly trailer, about to get a real makeover

Yup, leaves are falling, it rains a lot, and temps are dropping.

Quite the project you have going. Have you calculated load distribution? Not sure what the laws require in Sweden.
All the best with the build. Will be along for the ride.

What axle do you have. Leaf spring or torsion.

          It’s a torsion axle, oversized.

I should say that it's been on that trailer for 2 years now, passing DMV tests 'n all. So I can focus on the styling :-)

That will be a serious piece of BBQ equipment when you have it all refurbed and rolling! I look forward to following the work and progress.

Really good idea lowering the center of gravity.
30's look eh, seeing a lot of oak in an old stake truck lay out

Me too I wish we had more build threads for smokers and outdoor cook areas... can’t get enough of those!
