I went into my research for a new griddle with the belief that I would eventually settle on the CC, but it doesn't hurt to see what else might be out there to up the competitive game. I've got a CC Somerset IV stove on the patio, and some other pieces of kit from CC so knew the quality that was there. One of the cautionary comments that repeated in various "reviews" was the amount of heat that came off the sides of the griddle onto the shelves, and to a lesser degree from the bottom of the fire tray to the top under shelf. Not good for plastic dispensers for oil and other seasonings. I'd seen a couple examples of an aftermarket tray that mounted to existing leg bolts across the front of the unit, but two things were evident. One is that the mounting brackets were so thin the tray flopped around in certain conditions, and two it mounted a tad high that could allow interference with the knobs if taller bottles or whatever were in the tray.
After deciding I wanted a similar device on the front I searched availability and discovered that something called a "speed rail" was just the ticket. They're available from most commercial kitchen supply houses, and of course Amazon. I ended up with one from Webstaurant.com because it looked and spec'd to be slightly better quality than the Amazon option and ended up within pennies of the same price landed. It fits great for what I wanted. It may not be for everyone though as you'll have to drill two holes in the leg fronts to engage the pre-punched keyhole mounting points. If you're not mechanically handy it may not be for you as the holes need to be fairly precise in location to maintain level, and to fit within the face of the leg.
