No - I need to lean how that is done! I am afraid it needs something volatile like Everclear 190 proof, which I don't have. Beer and wine and a little 80 proof rum ain't gonna cut it!
Awesome to see you both enjoying a new cooking journey together.
So I finally have the blessing to get my flat top to compliment my MAK... (wife replaced patio furniture for the 3rd time in 9 years... nothing was wrong with it, she just didn't like it lol) Anyway the dilemma now is that I THINK the CC 600 is the right grill for me, but we saw the Blackstone 36 and it's just a hair too big for our needs (wife also despised the size/price of the air fryer combo) and the rear grease collection means it sits even further off the deck railing... BUT it's over 100 bones cheaper and has a built in cover. Part of me wishes CC would update their lineup a bit or lower their prices, or both. I'll be using your pictures of the even bigger model to prove my point that the little units on the market won't cut it and re-attack for the FTG600
Hopefully I'll be shortly behind you on the griddle cooking learning curve... maybe Amazon Prime day will yield some sales on CC stuff
Sounds great! I'll be pulling for you. The Camp Chef for sure seems well built. The cover on something like the Blackstone Pro would be nice of course, especially if this is going on a open deck, and not covered at all.
The side tables do fold down on the Camp Chef flat tops, and also remove without tools., if that helps you convince the wife. You don't want it right up against anything flammable if you remove the side table - a lot of heat is coming up through the gap between grill body and side table, and my oil squeeze bottle got awful hot awful fast before I pushed it towards the outside end of the table.
jfmorris yeah seen some horror pics of melty things She was happy with the folding shelves my only current hang up is the price of entry, and add another 100+ to get a solid top for the thing
You're absolutely going to love that griddle look up YouTube video called The Griddle guys they use a Blackstone but the same thing apply to your flat top griddle they have a lot of great recipes I've done the pizza on mine and you're going to love it .

Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex SnS and OnlyFire pizza oven. A Smokey Joe and the most recent addition a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. 3 TempSpike wireless meat thermometers.
The daughter also has cancelled the 200 person party/public wedding in September, so the need for a new smoker has evaporated as well. For now the 16 person wedding in May was it, as she is already pregnant, and will not be fitting back into the wedding dress in September!
I got the 900 about a year ago and I love the thing. The size is substantial but the ability to do multiple zones is off the chain. I don't think I could get used to a smaller surface at this point.

Perfect. Enjoy cooking on it as you watch Yvone get better and better. When she's fit as a fiddle, she may nudge you to the side and take over The Beast herself.

So Mr. Bones asked if I wished the flat top was smaller.... I think it might be a tad large when only cooking for two, but you can get 3-4 different temp zones going. For a large stir fry for 8, I about filled it up, as you can see below...
I need to work on the leveling of the top, as when I dumped 9 scrambled eggs onto the top, a good portion of it ran into the grease trough, and started cooking down there! I got it scraped back out and onto the top of the griddle though...
Mr. Bones no we are all right handed. I was leaning towards left handed or ambidextrous as a kid, but they literally beat it out of me in first grade with a ruler to the back of my hand when I was writing with the left hand. My left arm has always been physically stronger than my right, which makes me think I should have been left handed.
Part of me wishes I never saw this thread, but the other part of me (MCS me) tells that part to be quiet and go jump in a busy road. Now I really want a flat top......MCS is real and difficult to overcome.
It is an excellent cooker for sure, and a worthy object of your MCS! I've done more cooks since I updated this thread, and its been great for everything I threw at it. I did get 2 more 20# tanks the last time I was at Costco, since I expect propane usage to be increased with this 6 burner bad boy!
Good move on the bigger tanks. I noticed on Blackstone’s site they have a NG conversion adapter. Might give me good reason to use that idle NG line on my porch now.....
au4stree I do have a NG hookup, and most of the griddles (Blackstone and Campchef) can be converted to it. I just don't like where my NG hookup is, and am not yet sure I want to be stuck in one spot. I can picture doing a big burger cook down the road for the church or somewhere like that, where I would load this griddle up in the truck and haul it somewhere. I can't do that if I am tethered to a NG hookup...
