Hey all-
Had this problem with my Blackstone last night.
Tried the reset with little success... gonna try it again after reading some of the tips noted here.
I did see noted in a couple of places in this thread about turning the tank valve 1/4 turn.
Do you only open that far and leave it that way for the cook, or 1/4 turn at a time until fully open?
If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Finster If you are dealing with a low flame situation on a gas grill or other cooker, and think your regulator needs to be reset, try the stuff outlined previously in this discussion. Personally, I usually only need to open my tank valve about 1/4 to 1/2 turn to get enough gas for all the burners. But the key is I think opening slowly. Once pressure is on the regulator, you can open it as much as you want, but no need to go crazy.

Ok. Very weird.
I try the reset again.
Disconnect everything. Even disconnect the regulator from the grill Set the burner to the high position. Wait about 5 minutes. Turn the burner off. Reattach everything. Slooowly open the tank valve. Wait about 30 seconds. Hit the starter. Nothing. Hit the starter again. It fires up. After about 5 seconds the flame drops to low. Adjusting the temp control knob doesn't change flame at all.
ok. Maybe I have a leak. I don't smell anything, but I guess a leak is still possible. I turn the burner knob off, but not the tank valve. I grab a spray bottle, take it inside to fill it with soapy water. This takes maybe a few minutes at most. I come back out to start checking for leaks. I'm thinking that I probably need gas flowing so turn the burner knob, which causes the igniter to click. It fires up. Flame stays high. I now have flame control by adjusting the burner knob between low and high. I can now visibly see the flame adjust as I change from low to high. Here I am 10 minutes later, and it's still running high.
I guess the secret is to open the valve on the tank, and then let it sit for 4 or 5 minutes before trying to start the grill 🤔
I don't remember doing that the first few times I used it, but maybe I did...🤷â€â™‚ï¸
anyhoo... it seems to be working for now. Will continue to monitor.

This is the one I picked up from along side the road, so really have no idea how old.
I do wonder if the previous owner was having the same issues and that's what led them to trash it..
Always open the tank valve first, slowly to 1/4 turn. Then open the control at the griddle. Always! If you do the griddle first it confuses the regulator at the tank and you get the low flame.
